New babies ID

If anyone remembers, I had a slightly unfortunate corn snake clutch, which only three made it and there’s one viable double clutch egg still incubating. Now I’m moving that post to here since the babies have shed and officially trying to ID them! The one I’m pretty confident in the ID of anery stripe masque, but the other two I’m more confuzzled on

Baby 1 (anery hypo masque?)

Baby 2 (hypo masque?)

The main confusing part for me is the fact they have red pupils, since I read generally hypos don’t have red pupils. Unfortunately they’re too squirmy to get a proper pic, but they’re definitely red and very reflective! Pardon the slightly dirty bowl, I honestly have no idea what got on it and only noticed after taking pics

Red pupils would generally suggest you’ve either got Ultra, Lava, or Lavender involved.

I’m thinking ultra then! Which would be awesome since there’s absolutely zero records of an ultra anery masque on morphmarket so far or any I can find readily available for referencing pictures of

To add to this, I wonder if mom was secretly masque, given she doesn’t show any obvious signs of it but her two not stripe babies definitely do, if only corn snake shed testing was a thing

I think we’d need some pics in indirect natural light to hope to ID. The first one does not look Hypo to me, but the second one does. But if they both have ruby pupils, then some sort of hypo type is at play. In that light, the first one looks more Cinder than Anery, but I’m guessing it’s really a trick of the light. HypoA can have dark ruby pupils.

Did my best! We have a permanent overcast here in the Midwest now that it’s October but it wasn’t dark out so I headed out with the babies. They were awfully wiggly and I have some pretty bad tremors from medical issues so I hope pics were okay

Eye pics, only got one since the other one was FAR less agreeable, but they both have red like that

Cinder-y baby (last pic is most color accurate, even then he’s still lighter in person than on camera, which likes to darken everything a lot for some reason)

Hypo baby, who’s possibly the squirmiest (you can kind of see the red pupil in the second and third pictures!)

I didn’t get any pictures of the stripe since I’m pretty confident in there being masque and stripe along with either anery or cinder now that cinder’s been pointed out, plus I have some pretty accurate pics already posted and I don’t want to bother her more than I do already lol

In the better light, that darker one looks more Anery Masque + a hypo type. Not Cinder. But both have distinct red pupils, not dark ruby pupils, so I don’t know about HypoA. Any chance of them being homo Ultra? They seem too dark for Ultramel.

That’s what they look like to me, but my ID skills get worse all the time.

Ultra Anery Masque & Ultra Masque.

A shot in the dark is the best guess we’ve got! So any stab at it is appreciated. I have zero idea about what type of hypomelanism the parents carry unfortunately, I didn’t even know about the masque in mom. I was told Miami stripe and Miami and both had a lot of hets which may or may not include anery, motley, and some sort of hypo. I’d say ultra could definitely be on the table given their more mysterious genetic background. I usually only breed snakes I 150% know the genetics but this was a little slip up with some pretty results I might just repeat on purpose

It’s hard to be 150% sure with corns. So many mutations are floating around the captive gene pool. So paradoxically, surprises are to be expected.

I need help ONCE AGAIN y’all. Is it possible for my girl to go a third round for eggs? She got every egg out her second time, and I made sure of it, but now I’m feeling a single egg in her all of a sudden, which I know wasn’t there before. I’m praying it’s not egg binding, but she’s passed meals fine and is in a very good mood as of late so I’m assuming it isn’t? If she doesn’t pass whatever this is (who knows, maybe a bit of constipation even) she’s due for a vet visit, but I’d like my anxiety down as much as possible in the meantime

Edit: I had NOT checked her lay box or her hides for eggs yet, as I have a therapy appointment right now and was only home VERY briefly to check on my snakes and refresh waters, do some spot cleans, etc. and was so nervous checking Priscilla that I forgot to search her rack. I’m absolutely praying there’s a third clutch once I’m back and I just caught her on her last egg (she likes to slither off when she has her last egg, so I’m hoping that’s it)

Keep us posted. Feed her soon.

Absolutely zero movement on the egg, even after some light massaging and a warm bath, plan to feed her a smaller meal tomorrow and consult with the vets (praying the reptile vets near me didn’t leave state again) I’m really hoping my poor girl doesn’t need surgery, but given she had her double clutch three weeks ago and I’m just now seeing an egg that’s stuck (I swear it wasn’t there before given I handle her every couple of days, I would’ve noticed, maybe it moved down?) I’m thinking she might need surgery. Hopefully not and some shots and whatever else from the vet can get her to pass it. It’s also disappointing since I wanted to breed her again next season, but I’d rather put my animals’ health first and not risk it again if this is going to be a repeat issue with her, which from what little experience I have with egg binding could very much be a possibility. I lost a python to egg binding since the vet refused to see her and it was very severe, not in a million years do I want to lose another girl to the same fate with as horribly as they go when it happens

Feed her today. It often moves the egg and allows it to be expelled. :crossed_fingers:t2:

I actually cracked open the freezer and stayed up super late so I could thaw out some large fuzzies for her last night, thankfully she was eager as usual which gave me a bit of hope, even if I nearly got nipped three times with as enthusiastic as she always is, today once I have some free time it’s time to call up as many vets as possible

Update: first vet I messaged thank god has a reptile vet available, I’m not sure when I’ll be able to get her in but hopefully soon if their scheduling and money allows. With as close to the cloaca as the egg is (which seemed to move a bit to the side today? One side seems more swollen than yesterday while the other is completely fine looking again) I’m hoping just shots and some TLC will help her out

Here’s hoping that everything will be OK with her!:pray::pray:

Update on Miss Priss, her swelling seems to have gone down significantly, which makes me think she’s doing better given it’s not completely gone and she’s not leaking any fluid/acting strange to allude to a rupture, still trying to figure things out with the vet. Whatever it is seems to be has significantly shrank in size as well after another gentle massage today, but I’m still wary of it being an egg and the feel just being from inflammation going down, she almost looks back to normal at least and has just as much pep, it almost makes me wonder if she passed it and I’m just going crazy with what I’m trying to look for

Update on un-pictured baby as well, she’s easily the most mellow but hardest to picture with as curious as she gets about fingers and phones. Unfortunately most her freckles are gone, but there’s still a few faint ones on her sides and under proper sunlight you can see the two saddles far down her back that she hatched with. Still stuck taking pics over the sink for the most part since I’m incompetent to take pictures in front of the balcony door with proper lighting, and I’m too paranoid + too cold and windy to go out for pictures on it

I love this Stripe!

Miss anery stripe took her first meal last week, but this week refused, along with her two other siblings both times, I even did the ‘leave it in overnight’ trick (which was promptly removed next morning) to no success, little masque ultra bit down on their food the very first time I tried offering but for whatever reason quickly spat it out once he had it about a third down. Clearly they’re interested in food or cruising around looking for it, but just don’t see the pinkies I’m offering AS food, should I try boiled pinks? Anything else I could try scenting them with? when I leave them alone with the pink they’re all over it, rubbing their faces against it and whatnot like they’re about to eat but never really taking it, so I’m assuming they just don’t think it smells like food even if it has the right temperature and whatnot. This is a way different problem from my baby ball pythons who usually have their issue of being disinterested in eating in general or get scared of food, so I need some advice here before I have some malnourished or starved babies

A bunch of my holdout jerks have been responding to anole-chutney smeared micro-pinks lately.

This runt ate two.
