I love love love those big chunky bull heads!
Gotcha. Interesting.
Yeah, those chonky faces are precious. Almost the bulldog faces of the serpent world. ![]()
Oh my gosh that second picture is so typical Eric! And that’s no bull! Oh wait! It is a bull (snake that is!). I love it! ![]()

What a face, my goodness! Looks so very grumpy .
Adorably grumpy, despite his best efforts. ![]()
He’s probably
thinkin “oh c**p, I’m gonna have 15 kinds at one time! Now I’ve really gone and done it! ![]()

Good thing he doesn’t know what milk is ![]()
I paired these two up again last night and outside of curling up in the hide with her he has shown no interest.
But more importantly when we zoom in on our subjects, we see her eyes have begun to cloud over indicative of an impending shed! Woohoo!
Congratulations!
Beautiful pose from her majesty as well.
Funny you called her “majesty”. There is nothing majestic or dignified about her when it’s feeding time! ![]()
She’s beautiful and rules with an iron scale!!! Feedings only once every two weeks for her right? So she’s a benevolent snake the rest of the time ![]()
She’s been eating weekly actually, but she will be getting more spaced out meals after laying. Her meals are larger now so they need to be spaced out more (10-14 days) and I don’t want her to double clutch.
What a charming photo of the happy couple! Her cloudy eyes add that extra touch of “not long now!”
Good luck with that. I say that in all sincerity, not a drop of snark. I have never wanted my corny girls to double clutch and have tried this tactic for years. As far as I can tell, it’s had no effect. In fact, I’m considering re-pairing this season after laying specifically because they always seem to lay regardless. Seems like such a total waste of biological effort. It will be interesting to see what happens with your girls.
This is probably the coolest thing I’ve seen in my years keeping snakes. I’m really glad I gave them such lay nest boxes. She has dug a passage way/trench from the entrance (top entry via hole in the lid) of the lay box to a chamber at the far end. In the pics she is hanging out under the entry way to the box.
I’ve read about pines and bulls digging nests but I’ve never seen one before. This is so cool!
Tell me snakes aren’t smart! ![]()

Very cool experience to witness (thank you for documenting and sharing
)! Which bull is that? Doesn’t look light enough to be her majesty, but I can’t tell if it’s the hybino since the eyes don’t appear red? Good job mama either way! ![]()
This girl is the first start laying. She started laying this morning. Naturally she started as I was heading out the door for work. I’ll run home at lunch to check in.
The two she laid so far look good. I’ll candle them to be sure.
Hooray poppa! Goodies will be awaiting you when you return home from work today!!! ![]()
