Now I want to see a spinosaurus with a head of a hognose
@cmills we won’t be satisfied until you do this
What a concept lmaooo, I’ll add it to my warm-up sketch list
@garciademueller @logar
Here is the goof sketch for the SpineHogsaurus, I might actually line it properly after I work on some personal art (smilodon and some gryphons, for a break from dinos for a sec)
Oh wow, it’s beautiful
Now I have to decide if I want to make it into a full design
Definitely!!! You might make me have to get a hog just so I can have that sticker!!!
I do plan to soon start doing designs/stickers of reptiles in the hobby!
I figured if this was going to be a hog-headed nightmare, I might as well use it for an experiment, and I tried a line-less geometric style (almost a paradox!). It was a pain but its kinda cool!
Its various hog morphs along the body
Maybe I could keep my dinosaur series lined, and when I need to switch it up I can make my reptile designs line-less? It is kind of a unique look
It’s an interesting style, but to me it feels very corporate. Less like an artistic choice and more like a manufactured product. Like the style was chosen by executives because it was the least controversial and has the widest appeal. If that makes sense.
I totally get what you mean. As I work on modern reptiles I’ll see what works best. I’ll need several practice runs since trying to draw snakes, just a line, in a geometric style…without making it just a line…will be tricky
Back from some personal art, here’s some new designs:
Protoceratops based on a tangerine AFT
Psittacosaurus based on a striped tremper leo
Not dinosaurs, but here is a Sarcosuchus and a Purussaurus, based on living crocs
I’ve never drawn a croc body before so this was a big test!

For the protoceratops, I generally like the design and I really like the colors, but the legs feel very disproportionate. In my opinion, the legs are too long and too close together. It doesn’t feel like a naturally occurring animal. When I first looked at it, I thought it was a two legged creature walking on its arms and raising its hind legs up. The psittacosaurus looks fantastic though.
-
The head feels off on the Yutyrannus. The transition between the scaly head and the feathers feels very stark and unnatural. If there’s a way to make the transition feel more natural, I think it would improve the viewing experience of the drawing.

Both of the crocodilians look great! You did an amazing job with them, especially considering that it’s your first time doing croc bodies.
I hope you aren’t offended at any of my suggestions for improvement. I just like offering advice to those I respect. Keep up the great work
You laid this out wonderfully, no offense taken!
I’ll take all of this into consideration moving forward and I’ll draw to redraw these soon!
Here is a Sinosauropteryx, which isn’t based on a reptile morph because enough fossil pigment evidence has been found for scientists to hypothesize on its actual appearance, which is so neat!
While the proto will require a full redraw, here is a revised yuty that I agree feels much more organic, thank you for the wonderful advice!
I kinda liked the first one with the abrupt stop better
I kept both designs so you can choose your flavor of Yuty
