@foxreptile im not very squeamish, but I don’t do death well. Matt does the dirty work and I just sit and have anxiety. Definitely not for the faint of heart. When Tiny dropped their tail, he was so nonchalant about it, and I’m over in the corner having a panic attack.
@ghoulishcresties May I request a CGD thread from you? I want to learn more!
As someone who spent 50% of my life at the pool, noodles won’t work as well as the pipe insulation. Noodles break down over time and constant misting and their little claws would make them not last very long and shed into little pieces. I think the pipe insulation is a little more heavy duty and water resistant. Pool noodles are more like sponges.
We have two bigger hides for each of the babies. The first one you can see behind Stormy. it’s one of those bendy pipes that we hot glued to the side of the boxes. They loved it.
The second is a piece if PVC pipe that Matt drilled holes in and we stuffed with sphagnum. When we cleaned out the enclosures last night, most of them were in their pipes.
This adult male, 6 years old, has lived here for two weeks now. Hasn’t eaten anything at all. I know they can go weeks without food, but I’m worried. Going to put him in another tank to see if he likes it better. (he’s in the pet box because I’m cleaning, nothing else)
Doesn’t eat the bugs I’ve provided, living crickets and mealworms. Tried three different kind of CGD. Have not tried pollen though. Thanks
I guess he’s still a bit stressed out from moving. He was in my biggest tank, trying out a smaller one now, maybe he feels safer in a small, darker place.
Yes, I’ll try different places for food. You never know what will work. He seems more active in the smaller tank now at least. In the big one he was constantly hiding.
This one, was a mix of the fig and insect Pangea, black panther melonistic, growth and breeding Pangea, egg white and some bee pollen!
I made enough for the next feed too, which I then added some honey too as well to make it slightly sweet for them all
(Just a small squeeze!)
I tend to mix flavours now as it seems to be making them a lot less fussy with certain ones I have found!
And with the ‘fussy’ ones, adding banana cream pie can help, it’s a ‘treat’ one
Pangea-
Fig and insect’s, papaya, watermelon, apricot.
Repashy- grubs and fruit, banana cream pie, cherry bomb, mrp classic, Mango, Pineapple Express and fig frenzy
Black panther- melonistic, colour bomb we’ve also used which is strawberry and banana.
And I now add in some egg white or whey, bee pollen and occasionally honey too for them, they seem to really enjoy the mixes I make, so, so far, so good!
Amount wise, I’m sure I will get asked, it’s a pain as I ‘eyeball’ it. But say a table spoon of egg white or whey and half a tea spoon of bee pollen.
I make enough to last a few feeds though, and for a lot of Cresties!
