Structure is something I go for here, a lot of ours have big, or floppy crests, the colours are a bonus!
I went for her more for the high coverage and the head was a bonus there as lillies donāt always tend to have great heads! Sheās going to Nelson eventually whoās got floppy crests
If youāre looking at breeding eventually definitely pair to bigger head Cresties to get the structure!
Flavia already is a lovely colour, and another phantom for her would be amazing
Phantoms are a fav of mine
Yeah, our goal is great structure also. The little ones I have I got only to study and learn how they develop in both structure and colour, well aware that they might not turn out to be breeding animals in the end. We will see. We do have adults with good structure to start out with. This female for example
All geckos can drop their tails when threatened. Crested geckos are likely the most prone to dropping their tails. Iāve heard of geckos dropping their tails due to everything from fireworks, to a fallen curtain rod, to a handling attempt/maintenance, and to another gecko. I donāt know of anyone intentionally making a gecko drop a tail except for medical reasons. Crested geckos (unlike most other species) donāt regrow their tails.
Are you considering getting a crestie?
All of my Cresties currently have tails and my first gecko (RIP) threw her tail off because she was laying eggs when I went to sort her food out, totally my fault. I thought she was a he prior to that moment š¤¦ point is, it depends on the Crestie.
Iām sure there will be a tail drop soon though, esp if I get baby Cresties!
@ghoulishcresties your soon to be gecko is amazing so happy for you and glad your newbie is settling in well
@irmelinis head structure is also something I go for. Do you know what the parents head structure was like? That will help determine whether or not Flavia could inherit it. But like said above putting with another Gecko that does have head structure might help.
I love the pinning on Dexter, I have a soft spot for pinstripes
The fact flavia and Flynn have the inverted/very tiny head it would be best not to breed them unless you paired to a massive head (crowned or floppy Iād say)
For some unknown reason thereās a couple breeders I know breeding their super dals with inverted heads, all babies have inherited them too. Rather than pairing with the opposite sex with a big head they havenāt, I mean a couple have ok heads but itās not worked out well. Still all inverted or tiny. The spots are insane which is a shame too
Also to think about when breeding is the spots? Do you want to pass on spots to every baby @irmelinis ? Theyāre a pain to get out again once you do and unless just a ācleanā Dalmatian a lot of babies donāt sell well as people donāt want tricolour with Dalmatian in, shame as I own one and sheās beautiful!
Iām trialling this year with my tricolour Dalmatian (Dolly) myself and I donāt hold out hope that many will go at all
Thankyou!
Something to look forward to when Iām out of isolation, I am sooooo bored so I keep thinking 29th, 29th, 29th!
Apache is fab, Iāve updated previous owners also who are happy sheās settled in well as sheās always been on her own so a big change for her. But sheās doing well!
I appreciate your honest advice
Yeah, the spots do throw me off, together with the heads, like you say. Spots are a dominant trait and I know they can take time to show up, my male had one or two when little, and more spots appearing nowā¦ I agree with you completely. They are not even a year old yet, but Iām leaning towards not breeding them. I got them as babies to follow their development and to learn more about bad vs good structure, their different habits and behaviour. I like to observe and study
They can take time or bam youāre born covered
I love spots myself, but I do get the mix of them with other traits isnāt desirable
Theyāre all so very different arenāt they!
I think youād of liked Raspberry, she was an when she got here and would always try bite me! Honestly if looks could killā¦ Sheās settled down a lot now although the other day she did go to bite until I tapped her nose and that seemed to stop her attacking haha
āthe lookāā¦ not very happyā¦ Sounds like you managed to interrupt and distract by tapping her nose. Thatās funny.
I do love my baby Flynn, the yellow one I posted a pic of earlier, he/she is so eager to hunt and very interesting to watch at night. He/she finds all the hiding spots and likes to explore. So thatās my favourite at the moment. Whatās your favourite (youāre allowed to have more than one!)?
Looks like Extreme Cresties may actually of been the first to have made theseā¦ And in the uk too! Heās been working on secret projects for years now, and finally realeased some for sale!
Completely unrelated to RCK lines also.
So Iām wondering if RCK And Extreme Cresties should be down on the Morphpedia? Tom didnāt say anything or release any until now, but it seems he may of actually been first with theseā¦
