I still need to go get tubs to separate them all.
Thing is may take me hours to separate…
I understand that. There was sooo many in that enclosure I just scooped out the soil and put in a tub. Just a huge number of tiny little babies of both species.
What are the differences in the dairy cow morphs? I have some big adults that are much whiter than others.
Generally in a Cow culture you eventually get some with white that extends almost completely throughout the entire body. You can isolate them and they are usually classified as P. laevis ‘White’.
Varieties I’ve seen mine are the high white, Ones with yellow, orange, red/pink tinge on their backs. Ones with brown instead of black markings, ones with higher coverage and ones with a stripe!
Lots of fine and defo the fav
Ooh lots more babies in with pandas too!
Only issue is their tub got flies in who laid and I had move them all into another tub… Very annoyed. It’s fruit flies as they’re mad on the Crestie food so end up bloody everywhere no matter how hard we try
But I’ve kept the old tub incase anymore babies I’ve missed.
But love how they start out white!
Here are some of the updated photos of the Marbilized, Milkbacks, and clowns! The updated blonde duckie photos will probably be a while because I can’t find them haha
Also I didn’t realize just how big the milkbacks get, they’re massive!
My 4 yo grands on decided that he could not live without the Panda Kings that he saw at the NARBC today. And I agree with him!
Nice! Panda Kings are definitely one of my favorites! They breed pretty quickly too, so definitely should get some good results from them soon! I personally think “oreo” or “ice cream sandwich” would be a better name for them, but I wasn’t the biologist that discovered them
If you don’t mind me asking, how much did you pay for them? I am thinking of selling mine at the Wasatch Expo but want to know what they are going for nowadays
This would have been wonderful or should I say sweet? Lol
I think it was 6 for $25.I picked up 3 tarantulas at the same place.
Wow that price has dropped
When I bought them the price for 6 was usually around $80 only a few months ago.
It is all because of one seller who started selling them at less than $1 each…
I love panda kings! They were one of the first species I noticed before I got really into isopods. I finally ordered a colony so they should be here soon!
btw your grandson has fantastic taste in isopods!
Love them, I’ve got lots of babies growing up
Not really. Cubaris are probably the worst breeders and fussy
Though since I ignored the advice about keeping them more dry but one side, and just most all over, mine are doing a lot better than when I first got them! And breeding well.
Hmm, my PKs have had great results. It may just be the setup, but mine produce almost to the same rate of some of my Porcellio Mine are even pretty forgiving, too. (even the duckies!) I bet the reproduction and hardiness does have something to do with differences between the US and UK lines a bit.
Cubaris encompasses an extremely large group, some of which DO reproduce/grow painstakingly slow. Although, most of these are probably not actual Cubaris sp.
Congrats on the success though! How do you keep yours? I am always looking for more opinions and strategies
Mine are in a mix of substrate, coco fibre, moss, bark.
Need to get some more white wood, as I had an issue with their previous housing I had to restart
Couldn’t move anything from old to new so I’m seeing how they do on that for now.
But touch wood since misting them all over instead of one side they do a lot better I’ve found.
It’s also bloody cold here, and they do like it warmer so they’re actually sat on top of the fat tail viv near the heat lamp side but not directly on it
Panda kings are awesome, I’m planning to get either those or dairy cows for my next species (probably both ).
I am going to have to get some Isopods so I can join this thread without having to make posts like this lol
Yes, you do! No reason not to!
