After many years, my Sphaerodactylus nigropunctatus granti finally started producing last year. I posted this picture of pops a while back. His initial offspring are finally maturing, and I have my very first sub-adult - a male! Here he is being released into his new permanent viv:

For those not familiar, hatchings are heavily banded, looking similar to a female. As they mature the males lose the banding and develop orange heads and tails and a gray body (you can see some faint banding in his head and tail). Females retain much of the juvenile coloration. I’ve had the original pair for 8ish years, and it took a move to new digs 2 years ago to trigger successful breeding.

Anyhow, I was pretty pumped today and wanted to share  .

Gaius ate two hornworms, standing in the juice of the one she ripped in half… and could go for more. (And she’s also probably cooking up some infertile eggs… she’s ROTUND)

Meanwhile, Dirge taste tested his, realized there was calcium dust on it, and decided that he didn’t want dinner after all. He’s a bit picky.

Today I learned that fat-tailed geckos will puff up and hiss when they are scared. It’s actually pretty funny when they do that, but I still leave them alone.

My precious (14 year old) baby, Margot. I adopted her in December 2022 from my sister’s friend who moved out of state.

Her spots are so dark and bold, especially for an older lady, what a cutie!

Some assorted pictures of my motley crew  I got a very cute new sarasinorum around a month ago as a probable female, but apparently shipping prompted it to go through gecko puberty :woman_facepalming: And now I have another male!
