I don’t blame the seller on this one, saras are a pain to sex! He came in looking female, NPV, and I still don’t see any pores despite the bulge development
That’s the plan, I think I’ll go for an adult female next time instead of rolling the dice on juveniles LOL
He acts like a puppy for sure. Ive heard that super snow eclipses tend to be really chill “friendly” gecks. Hes certainly easier to habdle than my raptor
I haven’t had any escape since I moved them in a modified aquarium, but I figure that when I get a larger colony it’s going to be harder to prevent them from escaping.
I also found a clutch of eggs inside their enclosure. I’m not going to try to remove it, but hopefully they’ll hatch and do well.
I had a clutch of cresties hatch! I’m confused by the babies since one (2nd pic) has a red-ish base and dalmation spots, while neither of the parents do (both are also full pinstripe). So I’m not positive of who the parents are. I’m considering comparing the growth rates and feeding only 1 insects regularly, but I’m not sure if it would be worth enough to warrant the effort of recording everything.
Ones a full Harley pin and ones a harley high % pin, as not full and missing parts or dorsal.
Whose parents? Any pics? And defo right parents?
Could be spots in line somewhere, they like to pop back up
Also I wouldn’t trial them at all. Crickets are needed 2/3 weeks imo if you want healthy cresties.
There’s been many people who have given some no bugs and others some and recorded it. Imo some grow more with or without them. Depends on the cresties entirely.
I have a clutch atm and one Crestie is just generally bigger and no matter what I think always will be. The other is real small compared to it.
I can get pictures of the parents, I’m pretty sure of the female (full pin harlequin), since she was the only female in the enclosure for a while and the babies would look completely different if it was the other female. The male could either be a dashed pinstripe low-expression harlequin dalmation or a full pinstripe high-expression harlequin. The full pin male was paired to the female this year multiple times, but the dashed pin male was paired to her last year and produced similar-looking babies.
I was considering feeding one insects often, and the other less often (maybe one feeding every 1-2 weeks). In the US, it’s not common practice to feed insects, and there are a ton of small crested for sale even though they’re old enough. I was hoping it would help to have an example of the difference between one fed regularly with insects and one only fed CGD.
I was already leaning towards not testing it, so I’ll likely just play it safe and feed both insects regularly.
