Solar Serpents 2024 Babies!

It pipped on its own and looks to be fully developed so at least there is some hope! I wonder how much is doubled.

Here’s Sequin, an ultra or ultramel tessera. I think she might be just ultra? She seems darker than the other one. She’s also big and friendly, just like they all have been.

So the two headed one is out now. No immediately apparent kinks and he’s a hefty 9.2 grams, both good signs. I’ve seen both sides of the mouths open independently during a small yawn/jaw reset. But he does seem very lethargic. He’s set up now in a little baby bin with a very shallow water dish. We’ll see if he makes it through the night! I think it’s possible that certain organs got doubled or merged together, etc, even if he looks okay on the outside.

Fingers crossed!

Do you think it will need help shedding if it makes it?

Interesting fact about the condition this little one has (called Diprosopus): It is caused by abnormal activity of the Sonic hedgehog protein.

Yes, probably. From what I’ve seen of others, they struggle with the shed at the joined area.

One more baby out tonight, this one with just a single face! Glitz, female ultra or ultramel stripe tessera. And also the first baby to be under 9 grams in this clutch! She’s still a respectable 7.9 grams, though.

What a big bunch of big babies! When the smallest in the clutch is 7.9 g, that’s really saying something.

Pulling for the two-headed baby!

Holds can be arranged!

And the last baby is out. Another big girl, 9.3 grams. This is Glitter, amel tessera. I love her head/neck pattern area!

Seriously though, I love her color and patterns so much…

Did the two headed snake make it through the night?

Yes, he’s still alive as of now.

Woohoo! I hope you have him with you to love on as long as you can!:joy:

Thought I’d give a little update on the sunkissed tessera with micropthalmia. He’s doing great! That clutch has been kind of a pain to get started with feeding, but he’s been one of the good ones. Definitely has an attitude, though! Although he’s gotten to the point where he’ll very half-heartedly bite me, or just bump his nose against me.
