@caryl - gotcha, i knew RO wouldn’t make sense!
So just woke up, couple more overnight.
Pretty basic babies though.
Im not 100% sure on if RedFactor x RedFactor = all RedFactor with 1/2 of them super…?
If that is the case, the snows will be coral 66% het scaleless and the amels also coral, 66% het anery and 66% scaleless.
No scaleless pips yet but there should be a couple at least? 13 eggs from het to het, gotta be at least 1 in there.
Next clutch is “due” (day 60) on Thursday, and thatll be a special one to me. Nitro X Nova. 100% scaleless Okeetees, half should be ROs if Nitros possible het amel proves.
Ill say one thing though, i LOVE this snows head stamp! Ive seen similar in online photos but this one is MINE! What do yall think? Vader or Scream?
I’m the outlier. Looks like Vader to me! Cute, whatever the case.
Sorry, but no. You only have a guarantee of every hatchling having RF if at least one parent is a Super RF. If both parents are single-copy RF, Mendelian odds are 25% single copy RF, 50% Super RF, 25% no RF.
I gotcha. Thanks for clearing that up Caryl. That explains some of these scaleless. They all waited until day 5 after first pip to decide to pip themselves. Im pretty happy with the the results. 6 scaleless (one was D.I.E.) so 5 actually, and 6 scaled. From a het SL to het SL. Nice odds i guess.
Theyre all on moist paper towels, just put a couple on the bark for the photos and stimulation for a minute.
Only a couple of the scaled ones that were the 1st ones to pip have shed so they look pretty dull in these photos.
Oh youll never believe this. I replaced the capacitor, the fan motor, the disconnect fuses, the air handler fuse, the thermostat wires. That narrowed it down to the contactor. Which i replaced today. I removed the old one and looked at it. A stink bug had gotten stuck between where the 2 metal pieces make contact when the thermostat kicks on and was preventing the current to pass.
I spent close to 500$ on thos w parts when a service call would have been 30$. Im sure they wouldnt have charged me anything more than the service call fee to remove the bug. I always learn the hard way.
Seriously! That sounds like something that would happen to us! I will remember that in the future if ours ac goes out! . I know it’s not funny though! And I HATE HATE HATE stink bugs???
Anyhoo you should be able to recoup that 500 when you sell all those GORGEOUS animals! (Except for a couple…)
Sorry about all the AC issues. That sounds awful. I’m glad you got it fixed, even if it was kinda the hard (and much more expensive). At least you know that you’ve pretty much for a new unit now. That’s a good thing.
Mucho mas.
Heres a few more of the scaleless babies. Havent had time to photo them all.
In clutch " ST" youll see some with rare, unusual striping. (Theres more, even crazier ones that ill photo after shed). There is no motley, stripe or tessera in either parent and their scaled siblings show no motley or stripe either. Belly checkers are solid black and white.
All photos are pre-shed abd some have perlite dust on em.
If 1 parent is het motley would that influence pattern at all? Like i said, the scaled siblings are all just normal okeetee patterned with standard saddles. No aberrations.
Anyways, enjoy the photos. Will post the rest after shed and when ive time.
Gorgeous! Congrats. I don’t work with scaleless, but from what I’ve seen, they seem more prone to the sort of pattern aberrations you’re seeing, especially in the front third.
Thanks! Thats absolutely true. But the full body, uninterrupted dorsal stripes dont seem to happen very often. At least without Motley or stripe being present. Even though 2 of the 7 have it - i doubt its anything that can be reproduced. The other with the solid black neck stripe is interesting too.
I don’t know about that. I’ve never seen anything like those Okeetees and they don’t look like anything normally produced. I believe these are anything but normal
Dean is right, aberrant patterning is more common in scaleless, and yes that even means to the degree seen in these animals. While the full body stripe is, as @jaminsquadrito mentioned, less common without a pattern modifying morph, it’s not unheard of. Searching the marketplace for any scaleless excluding motley, stripe, and tessera will result in several of these types showing up. That said, the parents themselves have some atypical patterning, which likely contributed. There’s also always the less likely, but still not zero chance there was a hidden het in one or both parents.
