Tell me this isn’t what I think it is……

This is such an exciting happening! Glad your tiny babies (however many they are) seem to be doing well.

Should I ask, @caron?

Lol! No @caryl Caryl I don’t see any more babies so far. I must have been mistaken! Lol! But thank you for asking!:heart::heart_eyes:

@caron would you happen to have parthenogenic scorpions?

Yes I think 2 of the 3 scorpions I have are. Dune Scorpion and Devil Stripe Scorpion. They look a whole lot alike……

Another update on the scorplings:

They really do come out at night! I counted at least 5 of them scurrying around eating their fruit flies! However they are not growing as fast as I thought they were supposed to but they definitely are getting a bit darker like their exoskeletons are hardening.

I will try to take a picture tomorrow night. They are so cute scarfing their little flies!

I’m sure they are! I would love to see that.

Oops I posted the picture in the wrong thread! Lol! Here it is @caryl! The babies are still so tiny!

What little cute things! They look so delicate right now!

Oh wow! So delicate, indeed! One of the subjects I used to teach was Marine Biology. Scorpions look very much like they belong in the benthic zone.

Well Caryl all I know is that the fruit flies are not working out for me so I’m thinking maybe cutting up a meal worm or 2 putting it in with them?

The tubs of fruit flies are so hard to deal with and they don’t last very long and Petsmart doesn’t have them in the tubes anymore….

Help teacher! Lol! :joy:

You might try cricket back legs as well. If you have any crickets around.

Ok thank you David! I’ll get some small crickets tomorrow.

It has worked on very small slings, for me. They should be little scavengers.

Sorry I am tired but I just read this @spottedbull and thought of a large detached still hopping cricket leg!:rofl: it’s a great idea actually! Just crazy funny to my tired immature sense of humor!

lol! Thanks a lot Nathan Bane! Now I will have that visual in my head before I go to sleep! So appreciate that! :joy::rofl::joy::rofl::joy::rofl::joy::tired_face:

Now that’s funny right there!

So I got some crickets today @spottedbull and I started to pull some legs off them but after a pulling off a couple I couldn’t do do it anymore! :joy:.

After that I found some really tiny crickets in the group so I just dropped them in with the scorplings. I hope I will have some scorplings left in the morning!

Well…you could smash their heads.

Yeah I know. Thats probably not much better.

I know exactly what you mean. I tried to start to pull the back legs off a cricket to feed Tala for the first time, and I just couldn’t do it. I decided to just toss her an intact one and see what happened, and was relieved when she was able to take it down with no issues.

Honestly, pulling the legs off a cricket is really no more inhumane than throwing them in with a spider to get eaten, but it still felt kinda icky to me. I’d do it if I really had to, but I wouldn’t feel great about it.

Thank you Jennifer for agreeing with me! Lol! I did @spottedbull David and Jennifer end up squeezing a couple of the crickets with tongs and tossing them in. I am such a weeny and I guess you are too Jennifer! Lol! So this morning the scorplings were still there……. Whew!!! :joy:
