The Royal Nest Reptiles - 2023 Season

Kat had her prelay shed, Helena isn’t too far behind as she’s in deep blue right now.

And a prelay shed from Helena — I do think she likely shed yesterday but I didn’t get a chance to check on her, so she should be due to lay on May 4th if she did shed yesterday!

Well then, only one thing to say:

Pairing these two again as not only did I catch Charlie bowl wrapping again, but I’ve now noticed a visible build on her and after palpating felt at least 4 decently sized follicles.

She’s quite a bit behind from all the other girls, but I’m not complaining :joy:

Clutch # 2 is here!!

I was thinking Solaris would lay 4-5 eggs…

But she surprised me with 3 really LONG eggs! :joy::joy:

:crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers: I get some good babies, and maybe twins, because holy moly are these eggs long! They almost look like dinosaur eggs :joy:

Pairing was 1.0 cinnamon mahogany het albino x 0.1 pastel mojave enchi mahogany het albino

I remember @t_h_wyman had some eggs like that last year. Definitely some wonky looking ones for sure. All mine (only have had a total of 4 clutches to date) have all been normal looking. Think these are pretty cool though

They look like giant corn snake eggs!! I’ve gotten crazy boob eggs, eggs with windows, and once a whole clutch of eggs with dark circles on them, but never such an elongated bp egg! Nice! Anything that hatches is a great looking egg to me!

These are definitely by far the wonkiest eggs I’ve had! As long as they hatch healthy babies I can’t complain too much :joy:

Giant corn snake eggs is a great way to describe them
I’ve had a couple boob eggs and ones with dark spots, and ones that looked more like potatoes… but this is the first I’ve had be super elongated! :joy:

Meanwhile, a surprise late ovy from Charlie!
So we’ll have 5 clutches this season.

Pastel ghi x pewter for this pairing

That is a great ovulation pic! So hard to catch! Ghi and cinny go so good together, good luck!

I try to be fairly observant of my girls when I know they’re close for ovulating!

I’m excited to see some of the ghi combos this season, the pastel ghi x pastel super mojave clutch is on day 41 (?) now of incubation so should be seeing babies pipping in the next couple weeks!

That will be a great clutch! Can’t wait to see it!

Was actually checking up on that clutch, they’re on day 42 now…. Had some moisture get on the eggs so I’ve been putting antifungal powder on them and keeping them as dry as possible.

But I can make out the pattern of this baby!

Looks like a mojave at least, but I won’t know if it has pastel/super pastel until hatching of course. Thought it was really cool and wanted to share!

Oh my gosh, you’ve got some seriously good eyes! I had to look twice just to see its outline!

Haha! I’m actually blind as a bat but when I was a candling I saw that one moving around and got a closer look before noticing the pattern on the side — decided to get a picture of it because I haven’t ever seen it that clearly before!

That’s neat! I have never been able to see one clear enough to make out a pattern like that! Good pic! Eggs look good to me as well, nice veins and good color on the ones in the pic.

Clutch # 3 is here!

Except two of the eggs were… questionable when candled.

Compared to one of the others:

I’m gonna incubate them anyways just in case, but if they’re duds then they’re duds. First time I’ve gotten good looking eggs that didn’t look so great on the inside!

And here’s Helena as of last night. She looks miserable :joy:

She’ll be due to lay in 2 days!

I would also just incubate them as well, if they are bad you will know in a few days. They really look good on the outside! Your female that is about to lay, looks so bright now-gonna look crazy with that just laid glow on her! Nice clutch! A real great season for you so far! Keep the pics coming!

Yup, pretty much the plan! I’ll probably post here if/when they do go bad.

I’m happy with this season so far!
Should be seeing pips from the first clutch here in around… a week or so? They’re on day 48 today and incubating at 89°F, so it’ll be really soon!

Hoping I can get several of my younger females up to size by next season and really ramp things up.

Kat was only 858 grams after laying so she’s gonna get the next year off if she doesn’t put back on some massive weight by then. Lightest I’ve seen any of my girls after laying. She’s also looking the roughest out of them in terms of her body condition so she must have put a lot into those eggs.
