Talk about a blessing from the odds gods! I love the first pic in the container, that’s what you want to see when you look into it! Can’t wait to see all 3 of them out😁 Congrats!
Huge congrats on the good odds!! I so can’t wait to be able to start pairing again for next season. I had to take this season off and it’s killing me seeing everyone’s hatchlings! Hoping for 5 clutches next year, maybe 6 if I’ve got my super OD spider ready to go.
It was pretty funny as I was working on assist feeding a few babies — when I went in the dining room I was disappointed to see no pips yet… then when I was done and got back up I was greeted with that little snoot from that first picture!
And yes, while I wasn’t 100% after the albinos (I am mostly looking to hit a cinnamon suma) I’m still happy to hit the odds on them.
If either one are males I might hold one back to breed to my visual albino female. If she’d give me eggs, that is — she was so obese when I got her that I feel like it’s gonna take some time before she’ll actually ever produce eggs for me. She’s not nearly as overweight as she was but I do think producing a clutch would help with some of the pudge she still has!
First baby out of the egg and he is MASSIVE!
92 grams! I imagine the other two are similarly sized
I think he is just a mahogany, and would be 66% het albino.
Edit: Second baby!
Also a boy, not as big but still pretty chunky.
I think he’s an albino suma, maybe enchi because he’s got a lot of orange coloration.
Edit 2: Third baby!
Also also a boy
This one I think is either a mahogany albino or mahogany enchi albino. Definitely gonna have to wait until after sheds for IDs on these, considering all of the genetics involved.
And all the chunky boys together!
92g that’s huge! I know occasionally people get 100+gramers but I never hit 90g myself yet! Start that thing on small rats😂
The albino does appear to have the suma stripe to me, congrats on that as well! Super mahogany genetics are on my list for sure! Soild dark snakes with no issues, sign me up!
These are the biggest babies I’ve hatched thus far! But they were also the biggest eggs I’ve seen a ball python lay… it’s crazy how the egg size directly affects how large the baby grows to be.
The goal for this pairing was cinnamon suma but I’d be more than happy with the one being a suma — it’s a step closer to my goal and the visual albino is a nice bonus too!
The next clutches are here!
Helena’s clutch started pipping before Kat’s, despite Helena’s being laid a day later.
I decided to go ahead and cut both clutches.
Was suspicious as to why one of Helena’s eggs looked suddenly inflated again, took it out to check and saw this…
And the entire clutch! Lots of pretty babies!
n
And then Kat’s clutch:
Two normals and what looks to be a high white banana pied! Finally hit the visual pied I wanted, though unless by some miracle this one is a female I’ll unfortunately not be keeping him since the dad is already a banana pied himself.
So bright inside the egg! Can’t wait till they come out! Love banana pieds! You never know the second clutch of coral glows I made gave me a female, good luck! More pics when they are out please, wanna see the banana patches on the pied for sure! Congratulations!
These babies are all out of the egg!
And all of them together:
My tentative IDs:
1.0 pastel vanilla lesser
1.0 pastel and/or vanilla lesser spider (?)
0.1 pastel vanilla lesser spider
0.1 pastel vanilla
All het VPI axanthic of course
Pairing being 1.0 VPI axanthic spider x 0.1 pastel vanilla lesser
Congrats! They are so cute!
Look at all those erased heads! So blushed out! I think there is vanilla in that spider in question, just not sure about the pastel is in there too or not? After it sheds maybe you’ll get a better idea. Nice clutch, all look good sized and healthy as well!
I’m thinking it’s missing at least one of the two lightening genes just because it’s not quite as “washed out” as the other one is.
Fun fact, I don’t actually know how to ID vanilla, I just know it’s one of those subtle lightening/brightening genes
The two spiders I mostly figured out from my own intuition and looking up pictures of the combination, then one looks like mom, and the last one looks quite a bit brighter than any plain pastel I’ve hatched
These guys finally came out of the egg! Two normal het pied girls and a beautiful banana pied male.
I’m still contemplating whether to keep this boy or not, but I should probably do the smart thing and sell him since his dad is a proven breeder male already
What I need to do is maybe invest in/create some multigene hets so I can make cooler looking pied stuff…
I’m having the same dilemma with hypo/pied right now. I’ve got a killer pied male I’ve debated parting with, but I like him too much. And it’s no fun just producing pastel het pieds, so this year I’m throwing him to some other stuff to make some combos. Debating pairing him with my cinnamon het hypo to make some pewter het pied pos het hypos, among other things. Recessives take a lot of planning to make stuff if you aren’t starting with hets/visuals.
Oh yeah, I mean I have a visual pied, super cinny poss het pied, and a mojave mahogany het pied females that I’m still raising up so it’s more just a waiting game on that.
I have a pastel clown female that’s almost breeding size, but I figured I’d pair her to my pastel DG male I just picked up and male double hets with that.
There’s also my albino girl, but I want to pair her to my cinny mahogany het albino male for more albino stuff.
I have some ghost/hypo stuff in the collection now too, but most of those project animals I have plans to pair together initially to produce more visual stuff to hold back. Then maybe I can work pied into it since hypo pieds look pretty neat.
Lots of choices for pairings, that’s for sure
That banana pied is pretty much perfect with the amount of pure white next to the patches of bananas oranges and purples! Congratulations!
I know right?? I so want to keep him but it wouldn’t be the best decision with me having a proven male already
I’ll have to think about it, you don’t see patterns like that too often and I could just hold onto him and his dad until he’s mature and can replace him…
Here’s another pic of him cleaned off and in natural lighting:
Also the eye stripes go all the way around the super orange blushed head! Almost like a Enchi eye stripes, very cool! What do you think, close to 50% 50% white to pattern, very even and makes great contrasting colors look even better! You don’t have to keep him if you don’t need him, but he sure is a stunner!
