They CAN store sperm for over a year AND PIP!

Oooh, if it’s a boy, Midas or Aurelius would be good!

The much-anticipated baby has fully emerged! It’s a sweet little Butter Masque Stripe (Butter Stripe Masque?). The little darling weighs in at 6.4 g. Seems practically perfect! It has a tiny bit of swelling where the umbilicus attached, though no external issue there. I expect that to disappear promptly.

I start babies in deli cups until after their first meal. I spent a ridiculous time just staring at this one. Every healthy baby of any species is a miracle. I’ll admit this one feels extra miraculous!

I didn’t try and pop this one yet, but if I had to guess I would guess male. I have an answer now to whether Artephius is het Motley or Stripe. That’s actually part of the reason why he and Sceptre were ever paired. I thought his babies with Princess Irene might answer that since she is het Stripe but none of their babies are Stripe. No Butters either, and she’s het Amel as well. More proof that odds are odds, not rules, lol.

YAAAAAY! Such a pretty baby, so glad s/he has hatched out healthy after all the drama that led up to it.

So cool! Butter stripes are one of my favorite morphs. My second ever corn, after I started learning about all the morphs, was a butter stripe. I still think they’re phenomenal.

It is because they are!

Thank you!! I’m walking around today with a big goofy grin.

Me too! I do love Butters, especially Butter Stripes. One of my first two females was a Butter het Stripe.
I have a couple of Butter Stripe yearling females who will be important in future projects. If this one’s a boy, one of those girls will likely have a date with him.

I would have been happy with any healthy baby from this magical egg. Getting a Butter Stripe is an extra-wonderful gift!   :sparkles:

You’re either psychic or counting well. Or both. He had a perfect shed just before lights-out last night. And yes, he’s a he. I’m dying for daylight so I can take updated pics!

Yes! Can’t wait for those post shed pics!

This boy is going to grow up beautifully golden. I tried to get a good one of him in my hand so that his color is easier to judge. I got several of him hanging his head over the edge of my palm, along with several of a blurry-headed moving baby, exploring. Ah well, you can see his color here, just not on his head .

We need a name. Dan’s liking Serendipity, which means unexpected good fortune and certainly applies to this boy. I’m liking Augustus. It’s Latin like Artephius, I’m certain Caesar Augustus had a Sceptre, er sceptre, and among the meanings of Augustus are “born in August” and “golden,” both accurate. Aurelius was another we thought about. It’s taken by an acquaintance’s cat.

What are your thoughts, good people? Serendipity? Augustus? Something else?

He’s adorable. Love his head pattern. What about Aurelius? That might fit your theme.

Aurelius does fit and I like it a lot. Unfortunately it’s the name of a local cat. If I can dislodge the cat from my head it might still work.

Thanks, btw! He’s hardly got a head pattern, lol. No noseband to speak of, basically just a couple of dots.
