To breed or not to breed: harlequin with pinstripe?

Wow, that is as weird. I think her name fits lol! I love her colors!

I’ve produced a lot of speckled babies from my pinstripe brindle/tiger group.

It’s a different type of spot from dal spots, they look like freckles.

I’ve always been curious about this, cool to see others have noticed the phenomenon. I agree it has to do with the brindle and pinstripe gene interacting. All of mine have come from two brindle pinstripe parents.

You also see the speckles immediately as babies, you don’t need to wait for them to grow up like dal spots.

Here is an example of the speckles on the head of this little one

They’re much more noticable in person. Now I’m curious about holding back two speckles and breeding them together.

That’s a phantom

They tend to have revere pinning and brindle

And now what you know to sell them as also! Phantoms to phantoms make more phantoms along with obviously whatever else is in the lines.

Phantoms, patternless, bicolour. All similar and you get them all out when mixing.
They’re some of my fav morphs

Awesome! Thanks for confirming my theory about pinstripe together with another pattern like brindle and tiger. I’d love to try my two brindles with my pinstripe male. So many plans!

Phantom is a recessive, so don’t think you’ll get phantoms unless yours are too. So phantoms to patternless, bicolour etc all work as all to do with eachother.

Though seems a lot are and people have hets and don’t know! :sob:

Didn’t know ours was until paired!

Fergus (my tiger) has two phantom parents, one phantom with portholes and one with red brindling.

Flavia (who I assume is phantom with brindle) has a patternless mother and a phantom brindle father.
Queen Bee also has a father who is phantom. So they should all have the gene.

There is a picture of Speckled. Tara Leigh’s Brindlequin lines were inspired heavily by some of her Speckled line animals. It’s definitely one of the best lines to play with if you like funky offspring!

That’s a low expression Tricolour, either pin dash or partial pin, can’t see with that pic as not the best.
