Update on Morph ID

So after a while of metaphorically banging my head against a wall to ID this baby I think I may have discovered something.

This baby has a stark resemblance to a Super Pastel Banana Lesser.

The issue is that only the Sire carries Pastel. (Banana Pastel Mystic)
The Dam as far as I was told by the previous owner is just a Banana Lesser Cinnamon. Not a Banana Lesser Pewter.

But unfortunately I was never able to get any lineage info for the mother from the breeder who produced her… Could there be a chance she has Pastel, do any of y’all see it in her?

This is a pic of her the day I got her.

And pics from the previous owner

I personally don’t see Pastel in her, she would be a lot lighter imo if she had it comparing her to other Banana Lesser Pewters.

But I feel the Baby she produced is too dark to be Super Banana Lesser Pastel or Sterling Lesser Banana.
And it he doesn’t appear to be a Banana Pewter Lesser

It’s entirely possible she is carrying pastel. She does have some nice color to her. The banana just makes it difficult to pick up nuanced colors.

This is the black pewter girl I picked up recently. Her previous owner had no idea she was carrying pastel until they bred her.

I believe shed testing the mom and/or the baby in question is my next plan then.

Its crazy that BP you shared has Pastel in it, I certainly would’ve never thought that without proof.

Oh and heres a few photos of the Sire, I guess I should’ve put this in the post too

Edit:
@armiyana Idk if this goes against TOS but is there anyone you reccomend I could talk to further about this genetic thing?

I wish Travis had more time to poke around and read into posts more cause he’d probably be a great answer.

I guess I could ping @akmorphs because they are one of the bp breeders I would love to talk shop with any day.

But I definitely agree the super pastel lesser looks right for this baby.
They still look a bit dark to be a super banana…but that could be why they have a super pastel look to them. The heads on a super banana can blush out a bit.
Either that or less likely, if dad had fire or some other lightening gene that also could be a low expression.

Could it be a hidden butter gene, #notmentioned. ?

@lucidbabybear Lesser and butter are the same gene. It’s been confirmed with genetic testing

Sorry im late…

It kinda looks like a pewter lesser tbh, but head blushing leads me to think a super pastel lesser pos cinnamon

I’m thinking Banana pos Cinnamon Super Pastel Lesser. I still have to confirm if the mom has Pastel or not.

As far as right now I know for a fact that this little one has Banana and Lesser

Thanks for the input!
I’ll be testing this little one for Cinnamon & Pastel when he sheds again

I’m not use to bananas not being a yellow/orange for me, but if you’re saying its banana then I’ll believe you. So, I’d update this to say Banana Pastel Lesser (pos super pastel).

oh it might be helpful if I actually had my light resolution up on my computer :see_no_evil: :skull:

I agree with shed testing mom. To me this baby looks like a super pastel lesser, I’m not seeing banana - I think the outlining is too dark.

Christina had said they tried the flashlight trick in the original post. The eyes light up as a banana.

I’ve never tried that trick myself, so I don’t know how easy it is or if it’s something that’s hard to see. It’s definitely possible I’m wrong. Just saying that if I had produced this animal, I personally wouldn’t label it as banana.

@akmorphs @inspirationexotics

I did this test for all of the offspring in the clutch

2 of the offspring showed up for Banana with this test, eyes fully lit up with no dark iris outline.

These 2 boys. Their dad is a Male-Maker as well, the rest of the non-bananas in my clutch are female if even more proof is needed.

I know this test works because I also did it for both of the parents, which are Banana, and their eyes fully lit up as well.

I used it for when I popped 3 white snakes in a clutch. Very easy way to find out 2 of 3 BELs were CG.
Also very bad luck of having 3 super mojos and not a crystal. But I did end up with the Hypo CG enchi super mojo.

Super easy and very accurate for how simple it is.

Update:

I just sent off a shed test for the hatchling to test for Cinnamon.

I’m still waiting for the mom to shed to get an order in to test for Pastel. I’ll update again once I recieve the results!
