What combo causes these "defects"

Blue BEL
lesser + mojave

obviously plus
possible…
leopard
super leopard
banana
black head
GHI
pastel
yellow belly

bug eyes, blue eyes but with pink center that is almost always fully dilated. Eye looks red with bkue around it. lower jaw is short. low feeding response, assist feed ok.

That deformity is referred to as “shark mouth”…

I believe any morph in the 8Ball complex can possibly develop it, especially super variants, unless it was caused by a fault in incubation.

I actually don’t think the eyes are much larger than normal it’s just the shape of the face due to the shark mouth and the blue making it seem more pronounced.

BELs will always have a pupil that shines red. It’s the lack of melanin. One of the ways to know if your BEL is Banana/CG is to actually ‘candle’ the top of the snakes head. A BEL will have dark iris and red pupils, a banana/cg will shine red pupils and iris.

Shark mouth can be due to poor genetics from line breeding too much or because of incubation errors. As @cmsreptiles said, the 8 ball complex can also do that but theres nothing here to do it

others in this clutch don’t look like this. all incubated together. Eyes definitely look different than my other blue BELs that are super lessers. The “pupil” definitely stuck dilated round unless in very bright light. eyes look red from distance and not the normal pretty blue. Some day need to get the whole clutch tested. I just thought there was some known bad gene combo. I suppose could be just a bad egg.

This is probably a banana BEL and whatever other isn’t. As I said… If you shine a light on the snakes head like you candle and egg- if the whole eye shines red it’s banana. If only the pupil shines red it’s not banana

The eyes are blue. I don’t know what else to tell you cause they look normal for a BEL if you have banana in the mix. But regardless a BEL does have red pupils and so do Pieds.

THANK YOU. never heard of this.
Where can i find a link to these kinds of ID tricks?
The only thing i do is 3 different wavelength of uv light show different hidden patterns on light colored snakes.

I have now tried this on some darker snakes that could have banana. About half glow red which only one parent was banana. Sooo seems to not only work on white snakes but dark ones too. Anyone else can confirm? Just had another banana clutch hatch and will try on them also after shed. I can probably share pics if anyone interested but that’s a 2 person job.

Yes it works on darker snakes as well. It will work on any BP that is Banana, someone also discovered this works with Ultramels as well.
