They are so fricken cute I could eat them. Handsome brood. And congrats to Itt for getting it all done! 11 babies is no mean feat.

The task is done, it was actually less dramatic than I expected. Many of the little ones were pretty calm with being picked up/moved. These are, however, by far the smallest snakes I’ve worked with. The largest of the lot is only 1.9g!

I looked up some equivalently weighted items and things like paperclips came up. I plan to get some earthworms to use as feeders and I 100% guarantee a whole one would be larger than any of the babies. Thanks, they are just so darn precious. I can’t stop watching them, they’re so fun.

Smallest is 1.5g, so not a whole lot smaller, but enough. At this size they have to eat pieces of pinky (or earthworm, fish, etc) because there’s no way even the smallest of red hots would fit into one.

It’s been a long time since I had baby garters, and I don’t think I ever had any that small, but the ones I had were able to fish for their own tiny live guppies. It was awesome watching them fish in a ciear bowl.

Left food in with everyone while I went to run errands and came back to some full bellies! Looks like possibly the majority have eaten? I chopped up two small pinkies and there’s maybe half of one left.

This is the reason I don’t own a garter or two! I don’t have the “guts” to chop up a pink! 
. Fish yeah I think I could handle, but pinks no! But I think garters are so pretty and the fact that they curl up together is just plum adorable!

If you do the chopping when they’re frozen, it’s 67% less disgusting.

I’ve had garters long enough now that it doesn’t really phase me, it’s just another type of feeder. I thaw them and then use a small pair of scissors to cut them into bite size pieces.

On the other hand, I’m SORELY tempted to invest in a communal garter setup in the future. It sounds like such an active and fun reptile setup, and it’s awesome to hear that your babies are doing so well!
