Would you rather be able to find any morph combo for sale or any species for sale at any time (the cost would still be the same)?
Any species! I’m not a huge morph person, I care more about rare species, especially all the rare geckos, agamas and boas/pythons.
Morph for me!
Definitely morph
To answer my own question I would say species. I really wasn’t sure but I figured in the future I’m going to focus more on different species so it would be nice to be able to find them.
-
Every species of python
-
Probably lizards because of the wide variety like tegus and ackies and legless lizards if you want something more snake like
-
Probably dream herping location
-
I don’t know a whole lot about either one but probably gtp for the color transition when they’re young
-
Establish a new species in captivity this is a goal for the future anyway but just with a not widely bred species
That’s amazing I didn’t know they transitioned as well!!
These are the gtps I was thinking of, for sure some of my favorites! Also all the photos are from cosmic_chondros on Instagram.
I would probably say an active venomous if I could do a really nice planted bioactive
Oh yeah, calico green trees are great. I do think that at some point though, with to much pattern and to many colors, it just gets confusing. I prefer the simpler calicos, such as these.

Definitely displays, I love doing bioactives so even if the snake isn’t active you can still look at all the plants. I’m planning to upgrade all my snakes to 4x2x2s next year, I can’t wait to switch everyone to planted bioactives!! Quality over quantity
-
Every species of boa. At least I know I’d be able to house them properly. Plus, many pythons are now illegal in Florida where I live

-
This is hard, but I guess I’d pick snakes.
-
I’d rather be able to travel to some place like Costa Rica or somewhere in Asia for herping for free, as awesome as the big expo is.
-
I’d rather keep emerald tree boas, if the only captive bred ones weren’t from NERD. They produce some amazing animals, but boy are they over-priced!
-
I would rather discover a new species.
You are right about them being overpriced. I think if you’ve got the money though, it would totally be worth it, especially a well socialized one from a responsible breeder like Tom Weidner.
- Every python
- Lizards
- Tinley
- Green tree pythons
- First time establish in captivity
- Python I think.
- If I could only keep one I’d probably go with lizards, but a year ago I would have said snakes.
- Definitely dream herping location.
- Emerald Tree Boas for sure
- First in captivity I believe.
- Like others, get that new morph in something and be able to share it with the world.
- The rock, because my grandson loves holding and touching all my snakes.
- All displays because that’s what we have now, and we love the look of a great bioactive enclosure. Probably going to move all of our snakes over to bioactives next year. And even toying with the idea of putting our Brazilian short-tailed possum and hedgehogs in bioactive enclosures as well.
- Sky blue ball python for me. Never liked neon green colors.
- I’d rather keep reptiles than mammals any day. Although I would miss my cat.
- Would you rather keep every species of boa, or every species of python?
- I’m a colubrid guy, but I think boas. Pythons are still cool but caring for a retic and a Burmese seems like a lot of work (even though dwarf retics are really cool and Burmese are totally chill and I’d consider getting one if I had the space)
- Would you rather only keep lizards or snakes?
- currently I only have snakes even though id like to get into lizards at some point, so snakes!
- Would you rather be able to go to TInley every year for free, or be able to go to (insert dream herping location) for free whenever you want?
- Tinley I think. Only places I’d want to go herping would be if it’s ethical/legal to capture some of the animals, but the only place I can think of that interests me that fits those criteria would be the native range of peters banded skinks. I do want to document their wild behaviors tbf, but I think the weather would kill me lol. (I’m also not a biology major nor an expert with reptiles)
- Would you rather keep green tree pythons or emerald tree boas?
- gotta love those calico green trees, but tbh neither species particularly interests me to keep.
- Would you rather discover a new reptile species or be the first to establish a reptile species in captivity
- establish in captivity, without a question. I wish I had the means to work on that with Peter’s banded skinks, but at least some people are working on that as well. They’re such loveable little guys and I can’t wait for them to be CBB (I just need to track down the people working on them LOL)
I’m gonna continue this thread with a couple more questions.
- Would you rather own all the morphs of a single species or own 100 different species?
- Would you rather discover a new morph or be the first one to produce really cool combos with a new morph?
1.All the morphs of one species.
- Produce really cool combos.
All Morphs Of Boas!
I would love to discover an incredible new morph!
This one was hard
-
I’d rather own all of 1 species
-
I would love to discover a new morph
