Are some morphs over hyped?

Then you put spider or pin in it and my goodness…especially spider and I’m not a huge of either one of those EITHER but combined just take my money and gimme

when I show off my collection of what I consider to be some awesome combos to non-snake people I get the biggest wow from my male normal. Maybe they are all over rated?

It’s not over hyped , you gotta realise these breeders spend years creating a new gene/snake and they gotta make some money to cover cost so if they sell a new gene they been spending years on and someone comes along gets it cheap and fires combos out straight away then they no longer the one that only has they genes it’s a price they pay when they sell them so the high price gets them money that’s worth letting others getting the new combos imo

I’d say this entire hobby is built on hype. But more importantly, keep what you like.

That’s the best advice to give. The 10.000 euro/dollar snake today might only be worth 200 tomorrow but as long as you can look at it and you get struck by it’s beauty it never loses it’s value to yourself and keeps the passion for these animals going. For reptile lovers this morph thing indeed is something we really care for but non- reptile lovers don’t care less. They don’t even care about the type of snake. My mother even mannaged last week to mix my sunglow boa up with my super mojave ball python :- ). She was so confused how my ball python suddenly got so big :joy:

In her defence, she lives quite far away so she doesn’t see them often.

I love mojave! It was my first morph and still one of my favorites. You just gotta put the right genes with it to make it look amazing
Like these mojave combos I produced this year, the 2nd one keeps getting brighter after each shed, its crazy.

I think pinstripe is over rated though, don’t really care for it myself.

I think the puzzles are pretty. They’re a little more apparent in certain combos tho. Getting rid of the eye stripe is cool (plus it gets rid of most key holes, floats the alien heads, conjoins the alien head to each other and the back pattern). The lesser, mojave, pastel, super pastel are impressive in it. I will admit it doesn’t go well with pinstripe. The main negative point is the high levels of aggression in most of them (even the hets).

True but what about genes that got pushed to the side like ultramel. An ultraclown is pretty much the coolest thing I’ve ever seen.

But without pinstripe there would be no lemonblasts pepehands

I think the beauty of the ball python hobby/industry is that no matter what one may thinks is over hyped or one may diskike is that with over 7000 combos there is something for everyone.

I always tell people do your own thing keep what you like not what other think is cool.

It’s pretty cool that way. If everyone liked the same thing the hobby wouldn’t expand the same way.

Crazy that even with the thousands of combinations out there now there are unlimited possibilities. It’s been a fun question but it really boils down to if you like it, chase it!

It’s hard for me to dislike any of em cause how they will react in some combos will totally blow my mind…it isnt always what it looks like on its own for me it’s what it can and will do later…some of these morphs that some of yall are saying you dislike DO SOME AMAZING things that you might not even know about

Show us some pics when you receive your new addition!

Eh, just not my cup of tea lol never was a fan of lemon blasts, they brown out too much for my liking. But not everyone likes what someone else might like, there’s so many morphs to choose from

That’s why you bring an extra copy of pastel to the table and make killer blasts.

Everything browns out at least a little, that’s why having good stock is so important. But yes, to each their own.

DG doesntand there is sumpin new coming with DG combos and I tink I already have part of it

Yes! Exactly, DG is the only gene in my opinion that keeps their contrast and brightness into adulthood. I’m very excited to be producing a lot of DG hets and vusuals this season. And I already started a double het project with DG, just gotta wait till the girls mature

Glad to see another DG enthusiast

Hypo does age well also and it isnt as drastic as DG but the DG HYPO combos seem to age better than just DG on its own and I only work with DG AND HYPO and my other project is pied Hypo but I’m gonna have DG into that SOON as my DGs get to size

hypo is also a good one, pastel dg is one if my favorite simple combos, i have a male that is being paired with a dew of my girls thus season. good luck on the double het project  I’m doing clown DG, and eventually Axanthic DG.
Would love to see some of the stuff you produce, they will be stunners for sure!
