Bittersweet babies arriving: Allstar x Aria; make that "Sweet babies!"

@caryl Naming them right away is another great tribute to Aria! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:. With unique well thought out names btw!

They are all stunning, I think you’ve made good choices with your holdbacks and Heart’s Delight is just especially precious and as beautiful as her namesake flower!!! :star_struck: Touched that you liked my suggestion enough to use it, glad she’ll carry on her mother’s genes and the naming tradition. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: Can’t wait to see these little ones grow. Great job on the photos of the snows, btw, I’m struggling so hard with mine. :joy:

Thanks, but man, they are hard to photograph. It’s always a challenge!

I hear ya! At least with a white snake like Celia, she’s older and holds still so I can mess with settings and white balance. Hatchlings have no time for my camera shenanigans. :upside_down_face:

Thank you so much! I am quite charmed by Legacy. I gazed raptly at him for a while today while I was working on serpent stuff. I hope he’s Red Factor, and I believe he’s Masque- but his already obvious, sweet personality ensures his place here. Full disclosure though, all those in this clutch seem to have great dispositions. I’ve changed the title of the thread because these sweet babies are healing my heart. I will always miss my sweet Aria. I bitterly regret the miserable circumstances such led to Aria’s death. These darling babies who will continue Aria’s line are truly making me feel better. They are helping to fill and soothe the ache of that loss.

We’re having thunderstorms this afternoon so I decided to try the first feeding for these babies. The results so far are six fat bellies!

Puccini ate too. Scarlatti, Caruso and Solo had their meal reheated and are sitting in a dark quiet place to think about it. I’ll check on them after two hours. Caruso and Solo were the last two to emerge, and they just shed on 20 July. It’s a bit early after that first shed. I was just thinking that the storms might stimulate their hunting/feeding behavior. I’m very pleased that six of the nine ate right away!

Fat bellied babies are the best sight, well on their way to growing! Hopefully the others get with the program!

Woo hoo! So glad those babes put on their feed bags for you today @caryl! I’m sure the other 3 will follow soon! You must be a very good cook! (And yes I’m about as cheesy as it gets!). Lol! :grinning::face_with_hand_over_mouth::sunglasses:

I’m pretty happy. Hopefully the three who didn’t eat this time will take the next offering in a few days. I gave the uneaten pinkies to Artephius. He always willing to take an extra snack.
Here’s little Puccini with his full belly. He’s a sweet little guy. And I apologize for initially labeling him “Caruso.”

Well, those three who initially declined their meal are now in their deli cups with a reheated prospective meal, covered in the dark. They didn’t eat initially tonight. When I prepared to cover them, Scarlatti looked interested. Solo liked like he might be considering eating.

Caruso was a different story. He looked like he wanted to eat, all right. Not the mouse, though. He wanted to eat ME. He is quite the feisty little fellow. He struck at the tongs when I put the mouse in his deli. He struck at Scarlatti when their delis were sitting beside each other while I fed the other babies. He struck at me through his deli when I was covering him. If his jaws were bigger than my pinky fingernail, he might be scary! :snake:  :joy:

You’re absolutely right. I’ve had an occasional highly suspicious, defensive baby like Caruso. They’ve always calmed down, but they can be a challenge. No fear that they’ll hurt me, that’s not possible (sorry, Caruso  ). Tiny noodles who are determined to have nothing to do with the giant potential predator AKA human caregiver are quick to run. They are so small that they do sometimes get between my fingers and away. When that happens, I’m always concerned that they might fall off the table and injure themselves, or that I might hurt them when I recapture them. Hopefully Caruso will settle down soon.

So far the worst that’s happened is the one who shot off the table in a bid for freedom a couple years ago. He went under the bookshelf, so all the books were removed. The bookshelf was picked up and moved. No snake. I found him after an eternal hour behind a box in the closet. When found, he arched up like a cobra. It took a few weeks, but he eventually decided I wasn’t potentially lethal. Hopefully Caruso will settle down soon.

Morning update: nobody ate. Sigh. Guess it’s boiled pinks for the next meal.

Ugh, darn it. Fingers crossed boiled works. It’s usually the first trick I try besides the small container in the evening. Don’t know why they like boiled so much, but I’m not complaining!

Well @caryl He is a male………. Just sayin……

Sorry gentlemen! :joy:

Likewise. It often works, and it’s simple. Less messy than some of the scenting tricks, too!

I dunno, maybe I shouldn’t have even tried last night. I’d been in and out of the room where they are now than usual since Beau and Sunlight’s clutch was pipping. The extra activity in their vicinity probably didn’t help with their willingness to feed. Still not worried, not yet. But, ugh.
