1526 and 0626 honestly look like they have charcoal eyebrows. I doubt it’s hom, but I wonder if it’s indicative of het?

You know, I really thought that some of the babies from this pairing in 2024 were Charcoal. Annelie was not supposed to be het Anery, and she is ph Charcoal. Allstar is visual Anery of course, but also ph Charcoal. I posted the babies to the FB corn snake morph ID group and the people who work extensively with Charcoal said nope, those are Anery. As they grew, they did seem more Granite than Pewter if that makes sense.

Life has been busy. Got a few quick updates. Allstar and Annelie’s babies have all shed and been offered their first meal. 14 of the 16 chowed down right away like champs! We’ll see if the other two get with the plan on the next offering. I will split their info off into a separate thread, partly because I find it challenging to find information in longer threads since the update a while back. I go back to look at their development and I am not confident in my ability to find it in a thread with all the clutches mixed together. Here is a trio of them with full bellies though, as picture tax.
I’m expecting pips ANY MINUTE from Raiden and Narcissa’s clutch. Tomorrow is Day 60. They’ve been very bell-peppery for the past week, they’re noticeably less white, and they’re thinner and more flexible to the touch. I’m posting these images before they pip and get gooey as a testimony to the fact that it’s possible for a non-viable egg (two, in this case) to shrivel and not cause mold issues for the neighboring eggs in a clump. I did try to separate these two when it began to look like they weren’t developing, but wasn’t comfortable I couldn’t do without causing more problems than leaving them alone would cause. I did rupture the shell of the one on top and mop up the egg contents which leaked out. That was perhaps 10% of the egg. The rest simply shriveled and dried.
The eggs from Galahad and Purple Wonder are doing fine, as are the ones in Allstar and Annelie’s second clutch. Hermione has shed and feels like she’s got at least a few eggs. Guess we’ll see before too long.

Thanks! I’m rather infatuated with them.
They all got ft. To the best of my recollection, I have never actually resorted to offering live. There isn’t anywhere near me I could purchase live, even if I wanted to. I’ve used just about every other trick in the book at some point. Happily most of them are happy to take ft right off.

Yep! The names are strawberry cultivars, but I did wait to choose until I’d gotten to know them at least a bit. It’s gonna be really hard to pick holdbacks! I was planning to keep a female Granite het Amel. I sent off the first sheds from all three of the Granite girls to RGI today to see who fits that bill.

I had four eggs in my big bull clutch that shriveled and turned purple a week or two after being laid. I left them in with the remaining good eggs and all 22 of the remaining eggs hatched.
I have one egg in my last bull clutch that started to mold a bit a couple of weeks back. I hit it with the athletes foot powder and it appears to have stopped the mold. The egg still looks a bit discolored and has dented a little. I don’t think it’s going to hatch but it also doesn’t look too far gone either.

And it’s encouraging to hear you’ve never needed to feed live. I’ve done it in the past when absolutely necessary (though this was with picky Ball Pythons), but since then, I’ve started keeping pet rats, and it’s very hard for me to feed live now.

Likewise! I’ve kept pet rats as well as pet mice in the past so I will only feed live as a last, last resort!

I’ve had a lot of rodent pets over the years. No rats, though I’ve had friends who did. They’re sweet. When I had classroom pet corns, mice and a gerbil, students would ask if the mice were for the snakes. No. I told them they were all pets and we didn’t feed pets to pets.

Happy update: Allstar and Annelie’s babies are now 100% Members of the Clean Plate Club! The two holdoutsls ate their second offering today!
