Its the best picture I could get sorry. It doesnt seem to be responding to moving the egg is there a chance it could still be alive or is it most likely gone?

Could you possibly help it along? This is so nerve wracking!

Don’t move the egg to get it to respond. You can very, very gently touch the baby with the back end of a tweezer or something. If it flinches, that’s good, but if not, it may have passed. Leave it in the egg and wait, you’ll know for sure soon enough.

My son and i have cut the egg open a little bit more open but we cant seem to see it moving like we did at about 2.30ish pm today

This is not something you should help along more than maybe widening the pip, removing a baby prematurely from the egg can cause more harm than good if it’s still viable.

Ok thank you wewill let it be for nowthen and just hope for the best xx

Yes that would make the most sense actually. Let nature take its own course……

we didnt directly touch the egg we just tried to touch the snake but didnt get any response no movement nothing…

One of the hardest parts of hatching is obviously having some that don’t make it, it happens to everyone. Hopefully the little one is just resting, but if not, it’s not an uncommon thing. In captivity and in nature, they can’t all survive.

ive just tried moving it again still no movement at all sadly. hopefully it still hatches but its not looking likely sadly

I’m sorry to hear that it doesn’t seem to have made it, I had one in my first clutch not make it, too. This was the tiny egg, right? It’s possible that there were other issues, or just growth restriction didn’t allow it to hatch strong enough to make it out.

yea it was the tiny egg. the egg also seemed to have stretch marks too.

Yeah, it’s entirely possible then that the growth restriction caused by the shell size impacted the outcome for this little one. Their eggshells are flexible and can expand, but only to a certain limit. This is part of why we “incubate until there’s no debate” because you never really know what’s going to happen until it does.

yea restriction would make alot of sense then since the egg shell did expand a lot part of the shell was also flaking a bit so this was likely the issue

If only we had know the mum was gravid the we would of been more careful with her as we had been told that she had not pared up with any males by the owners befor us and the sold her on her for only £5 and then we have eggs laid about 4 weeks later

yea the seller actually rescued the mum when they were obese brought them down to a healthy weight tried to breed her didnt see any locks then tried to sell her on MM for £5 where we eventually bought her and she laid eggs
