We finaly got bambam to eat a bit more today and in my hands yet again. She must like me lol xxx
Good job on being persistent, @shadowspiderjack and @demma . I know it’s frustrating and unpleasant. I promise it won’t be this way forever. Hugs to you both.
It definitely isnt a pleasant experience assist feeding especially since bambam is a runt but it’s also definitely valuable experience that will probably end up helping me in the future!
Pebbles is growing so fast now. Alreading hitting 12g!
I absolutely love the high white sides!
The belly is almost completely white too with only a few checkers around the neck.
She is very very nice @shadowspiderjack!
Pebbles is a beautiful girl, for sure! It’s going to be fun watching her colors develop.
You are gaining excellent experience, totally true. And eventually your stubborn little Bambam will decide, “Hey, it’s nicer not being hungry!” and will open that mouth and swallow happily. It will feel like magic. In the meantime, keep on keeping on!
Im hoping this happens soon! Ill probably boil from frozen again for the next feeding like I did last time but also try scenting with bacon grease this time. If bambam still refuses that ill try assist feeding the back end of a pinky again which worked last time. Also since bambam has been taking assist fed meals they fo seem to be less active probably due to digesting the meal taking energy?
Ember is also going into blue now so it shouldn’t be too long until she sheds! Even in shed she still manages to be so red lol.
This is helpful in a couple of ways. If Bambam doesn’t eat on its own, it can be helpful to have a little lubrication on the item you use for feeding. The extra fats are an energy bonus, too.
Not entirely sure what you mean, but it’s perfectly normal for them to go into seclusion in a safe, favored spot after eating. I’ve observed that mine usually come out for a drink of water about 24 hours after a meal, then go back into housing for another day or two. Then they come out and, ahem, provide me with a reason to clean their enclosure . After that, they’re back out and about as usual.
Ember is obviously well named. Lovely!
Honestly im not even sure what i mean myself sometimes haha. What i was teyjng to say is that since bambam has been assist fed meals they have been less active probably due to digestion taking energy.
I cant believe what an amazing journey me and my son has been on and we both have learnt so much too. And im the one that named ember lol and pebbles and bam bam too lol x
You’ve definitely has quite a lot of varied experiences this season! And you’re doing fine.
They’re both lovely. Little Bambam is eating and digesting (even though he’s unhappily eating atm) and he will catch up to his beautiful sister Pebbles eventually. It will take time, but he really will. I’ve got a yearling now who was a 4 g hatchling because he was a twin. He’s not the biggest yearling I have but he’s no longer noticeably much smaller than most. And I’ve got a teeny baby this season who on pinky heads, but hey, he’s feeding and he’s going to be fine. Your little ones will be, too.
Yeah alot definitely has happened this season lol especially since I wasn’t even expecting tochave eggs until next year. Their mother was accidentally sold to me gravid. Hopefully everything goes much smoother next year when im actually expecting eggs lol.
Bambam still refuses to eat willingly so its another assist feed unfortunately.
Did you happen to check Bambam’s weight before this feeding?
So sorry to hear Bambam is being difficult about their food. I had a 6 gram house snake baby who was similarly refusing food.
Things I tried with mine that you maybe have already thought of, but if it helps: Live earthworm, live earthworm bits, raw tilapia, pinky part smeared with egg yolk or salmon juice or tuna juice, live silkworms, snail meat, frog meat, reptilinks frog sausages in micro size.
He did respond well to egg yolk on the pinky although eventually we had to go to live day old pinky. I plan to try to use the egg yolk to transfer him to FT instead of live.
I checked a couple days ago when I was also checking pebbles. They still only weigh 3g.
