My first ever clutch

Ive already tried using the egg yolk method before which didnt end up working and here in the UK im pretty sure there are laws against live feeding so that isnt really an option.

She will only take the back end of a pinky from me and not jack for some unknown reasons why i don’t know. Maybe its because i talk to her lol . X

I talk to all of mine. All the time. They start hearing my voice when they’re still in their eggs, from the moment they hatch, and forever after, lol. I believe it does matter. (Yes, they can hear.)

Glad that the stubborn baby Bambam has a food bump. It’s encouraging that he did the swallowing voluntarily. I would try and feed him again about 24 hours after he passes this meal.

I most certainly believe this is so true! All my guys hear my voice constantly since they are in my room! Reese (Little Dot) is going to recognize my voice very soon as well! ! Btw he scarfed down his first pink with me and he is cruising for more! Lol! He’s a striker and coiler too! Lol!

Ive heard about this before. They have internal ear drums and our voices are just in the right frequency for them to be able to hear us. Ive also heard of stories of some snakes learing their names alough im not sure if that one is true? Pebbles is also starting to become a bit less shy when eating and even ate infront of us.

I have heard of monitors reacting to there name’s sometimes! (Probably only when the feel like it, like cats!) Snakes hear, and after I show my big girl retic the hook, I always reach in and pat her body and say “your a good girl!” I’ll admit probably does more for me then her, but I think she understands it’s not feeding time, its play time! So please be a weirdo and talk to yours, so the rest of us don’t feel bad!

oh don’t worry I do talk to mine lol. But what you said reminds me a bit about what one of my corns do. When I open her enclosure pat her she will push my finger away with her body but after she flicks her tongue and looks around then realises its me and is completely fine being patted after.

just weighed both the babies, Pebbles is now 14g and growing very fast! however bambam is still only 3g. Hopefully the increased food size when assist feeding will make them put on a few grams soon.

Pebbles is doing wonderfully! I know that you are eager for Bambam to pick up weight and he should begin gaining with the increased amount of food. Ideally, you want him to have an appreciable “tummy bump” after a meal. Here’s the thing; the fact that he’s not losing is a good thing. With these tiny ones, they can easily slip backward and preventing that is important. Also, it takes a while for a tiny to gain appreciably. It’s a math thing. If an 8 g baby gains 1 g, that’s a 12.5% gain. The same 12.5% gain for a 2.9 g baby is only .36 g. So it takes time to have noticeable gains. He’ll get there.

Keep up the good work.

Yeah that makes sense. Hopefully there is a weight increase soon and a second shed which ive heard can help trigger a hunger response? For the meantime ill keep doing what i can to get this baby to eat.

Here goes another feeding attempt! Pebbles also took off the tongs for the first time today!

Bambam is still being difficult as usual. The past 2 feeding attempts they have been out of their hide and going around their tub like they are looking for food. Today when we checked on the pinky head it was a bit slimy so maybe bambam tried eating it then stopped? In the end it resulted in another assist feed which bambam definitely did not approve of. Alough this time we managed to assist feed a pinky head rather than the back end.

@banereptiles is right, you and Bambam are making progress. I know it doesn’t feel that way, but things won’t go on this way forever. And hooray for Pebbles!

@demma I bet when Bams starts eating on his own he will catch up with Pebbles in no time! It’s so great that you have not given up on him! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
