NHC '23, clutches of confusion!

Very, very tired this week, haven’t had much time for updates/photos/much more than snake chores and work. That said, I did finally name Azula’s clutch, and decide on who is being held back!

Azula’s little ones all got names in line with hers (save Dewy), which is from Avatar: The Last Airbender. Her clutch is now:
Zuko(H1), Kyoshi(H2), Bumi(H3), Mai(H4), Smellerbee(H5), Appa(H6), Sokka(H7), Iroh(H8), Joo Dee(H9), Dewy(H10), Kiyi(H11), Toph(H12), Suki(H13), Azulon(H14), and Katara(H15).

Holdbacks are in three groups atm, personally held(*), temporary(^), and feeding(º).

From the Fireworks; Sparkler*, Firecracker*, Whirlwind^, Horsetail^, Fuse^, Strobeº, and Flitterº
ATLA clutch is; Zuko*, Kyoshi*, Mai^, Iroh*, Kiyi^, Toph*, and Katara*
Fruit basket clutch; Blackcurrant*, Dragonfruit*, and Rhubarb^

The temporary holds are just to see how they color up, it’s mostly the ones showing some form of RF or other interesting look. Didn’t expect the list to get so long, but I also didn’t expect a lot of what I got!

Take care of yourself. I know you’re also caring well for the creatures, always. Take care of you, too.

Maybe it’s the moon or something. I’ve been wiped out lately, too. And I also named the rest of my unnamed clutch, Beau and Sunlight’s babies.

I’ll have to go back through all the pics and figure out who is which on all of yours. You certainly got a bunch of lovelies this season. :purple_heart:

Been doing my best. My day off was yesterday and I spent the day doing some simple snake chores and just resting.

Seems to be a lot of folks dealing with the lack of energy, my guess is the season changing is what does it. Glad to hear you finally finished out names, too!

I will eventually post photos of all of my holdbacks, likely this weekend when I have the whole day to do whatever. They’re all coming along beautifully. Some of Pineapple’s little ones have definitely inherited mom’s extreme frosting which seems to get more prominent daily.

Looking forward to those photos, as always. I need to do that, too. But I know my limits (usually), and that has been a “date TBD” on the agenda for a bit.

Lol it was quite a challenge. That clutch involved a coach of themes. I wanted to the Halos have angelic names :innocent:. The Peaches have peach cultivar monikers. There are a couple of other family line name things, too. These babies are potentially Peach and/or Halo, so I’ve been trying to figure out who is which, both, neither. Not sure I have it correct, but I do have them all named now!

Gotta double check in the next few days, but it looks like the Fireworks babies are going into blue again! So excited to see what this brings, color wise.

A few Fireworks babies are indeed in blue at the moment. This includes Flitter & Strobe, who have gained a gram since their first assist feed! Hoping appetites pick up post shed. Fruit babies had their second meals, waiting on xs pinkies to try to get Damson & Yuzu to eat their firsts.

Still trying to figure out what everyone is, genetics wise, but I’ve got a couple of the adults straightened to some degree. That should make identifying hatchling genes a wee bit easier.

When you leave two pinkies in with your non-eaters and someone chooses gluttony… :person_facepalming:  Before anyone worries about Yuzu eating two large pinks, I’ve had zero issues with regurgitation from hatchlings taking more than one feeder. This just leaves Damson as the only non-eater from the Fruits!

Got to love when they chose to be like a mega stuffed Oreo

@lumpy I lovingly refer to the ones that do this as my, “overstuffed sausages” for their appearance.

@caron That he is! Can’t wait to see him grow now that he’s decided the food here meets his standards. :joy:

Lol! And he gets “room service” on top of that! :joy:.

Talk about deciding to eat! Goodness. That’s crazy!

Not the first one I’ve had to do it, either. Sometimes they decide to start eating in a big way.

Update on one of last year’s snakes: Sneaky is officially ready to get outta here. He’s now taking small mice! I am so very happy to have this boy finally taking appropriately sized feeders, he’s growing well now. Just have to get him and everyone else set up for listing.

This is such good news. I’m so happy to see this little guy go to a new home.

Even better news today: FLITTER ATE BY HIMSELF!!! So excited that he took a meal.

Woopee! Little Flitter has flown the “I need help to eat” coup and now he’s wearing his big boy eating britches! Hooray for him!:100::white_check_mark:

It’s nice to be down to only the two who haven’t taken meals, Strobe from the Fireworks and Damson from the Fruits. I truly wasn’t expecting Flitter to take a meal first offering after the assist, it was an incredible surprise to see him with a full belly, even more so since he’s in blue!

Super duper huzzah for Flitter !! That’s wonderful news.

And now I’m wondering just what a snake’s big boy eating britches might look like. Caron, you are hilarious! :joy:
