Nice to be here!

Hello everyone and thank you for welcoming me into this exciting community!! I love reptiles and have plenty of experience with them as personal pets, mainly rescues from around the area. Through this process, I got a breeding pair of crested geckos, and though they were unpaired and separated for weight concerns, the amount of research and time looking into this really made me fall in love with crested geckos and want to get into breeding.

I only want to breed a small handful of lizards, I’m not looking to produce 1000s of lizards a year by any means. I invested a little money and have the start of a Pangea XXX project in the works. I also acquired a gorgeous green and cream quadstripe female and a equally gorgeous green and cream extreme harlequin male(that will be paired in about 20 days). I have a baby red pattern less dal I eventually want to work with as well, I am looking into getting a lav lily white to mate to the baby down the road once I am positive of the sex.

I have all sorts of corn snakes and boas and a BEL ball python, South American horned frog, and a handful of geckos. Not an impressive collection by any means but I love them none the less!

I don’t really know what else to say, fell free to hit me up anytime. Check out our youtube channel and instagram page??? Everything is under the name Theo’s Pets!!!

Welcome to the community! Feel free to share pictures of your reptiles. What has been your favorite species to work with?

Thats a tough question. I have mostly corn snakes, but if I could only keep one as a pet, it would have to be my BCI. I put in so much time and work getting him healthy and fighting his RI he came in with. Handling them is fun and impressive but not scary like a retic or a burmese. Though, the housing is expensive and space consuming so I think 1 is enough for my condo lmao. Honestly I was a snake guy, until the cresties came in. Their personalities and colors and the genetics behind it are fascinating. So, if we mean working in that sense I guess I would answer crested geckos!

Sorry if that answer was a bit confusing!!! I will post a few pics of some of my animals! what are your favorite to work with???

Those are all awesome reptiles! So far I only have leopard geckos and crested geckos. Between the two I’d say the cresteds have more personality and are a bit more fun to work with. However the leopards are more colorful and more fun to plan for breeding projects and watch colors develop.

That is awesome to hear, I have seen how toxic FB groups can be, but looking through the posts on here it seems so much more chill!! I posted some pics in the reply above if you are interested!!!

And favorite morph and combo?

Got any pics of your geckos? :]

I got my wife a normal leopard gecko as a pet! They seemed a lot easier for her to handle, whenever the geckos takes a flying leap it physically startles her as well, so, not a good combo lol

Whats your favorite leopard gecko morph?

I have a normal, an okettee redfactor, a sunkissed ghost, a fire morph.

I have looked into Palmettos, and kind of want to say they are my favorite, but I can’t find any without bug eyes and that kills it for me. I’m not sure what it with the palmetto but I see googely eyes a lot in them more than other corns.

What corns do you have??? what your favorite??

I don’t have any corns as of right now but possibly in the future. I love the cinder morph.

Now that you mention it I need to get some updated pictures. Here’s a few threads that I have pictures in.
What new reptiles have you bought recently?

I would say my favorite morph is Black Night. I love what it does in adults and I have a juvenile pair (which is in the top link) to try breeding. I’ve still been working on handling my crested geckos. They’ve never been handled before so it’s been a long process with teaching them that I’m not a threat. However I have made some progress (if you count being able to pet them and one jumping on my arm and almost escaping :upside_down_face:).

Whoa, That mack snow one is phenomenal!!!

And with the snakes and lizards alike, I’ve learned any positive interaction regardless how brief inches you forward!!! Just keep at it and you will be a tree in no time!!!

The male’s turning darker and the female’s turning lighter (which makes me question her black night trait). I’ve made a lot of progress with the cresties from where they would run whenever they saw me. One of my leopard geckos was terrible at being handled and would run away and chirp (it took over 5 minutes to take her out for maintenance cleaning). Eventually I worked with her enough and now she doesn’t mind being handled and walks across my arm.

Welcome!
Green cresties are olives which I’m not sure yours are, pictures aren’t clear. If you want to post up images of all your cresties, both sides and back I’m happy to help with morphs for you so you know them all. Fired would help also!
And I’m sure @foxreptile is happy to help also!

The way they bobble around is adorable, and the way they eat crickets is fun to watch.

Which do you prefer to handle, the leopard or the crestie?
