Not much to say today, but boy we got some cute pics of the girl last night during a short handling session.
You can really see her little angry eyebrow markings in that last one and I am loving it.

Oh my goodness she is sooooooo pretty! The angry eyebrows really show up too! ![]()
I love house snakes’ little faces. She’s adorable.
She is so cute! Loving the face markings
.
Beautiful snake!
… and nice nails! ![]()
lol thank you! it’s winter so I try and give em a little extra TLC… but the cuticles still end up janky half the time. The wavy thumbnail, though, that’s a point of pride; my mom’s best friend used to say, for every one of those you have, you were a witch in one past life. ![]()
Lol hadn’t heard that one. Do toenails count, too?
I would post it, but I can’t get a clear picture of how one of my fingers look. I smashed it in a car door about a month and a half ago and I broke the finger tip open. The nail turned completely black and peeled off
. It looks better now but it is growing back all weird lol ![]()

I’d count em! Unless we’re going by Roald Dahl rules, ha!
OOGH that looks rough. My wife had that happen to her big toe after a long hike with a lot of downhill in the wrong shoes – wild how long it takes for them to get back to normal. Take care of that finger in the meantime!
I’m glad it’s growing back. Not fun though, I’m sure.
OUCH!! That hurts to even look at, Riley. I’m sorry that happened. Glad it’s healing, though. It is going to take a while but hopefully it will get there eventually.
@lumpy and @caryl This past summer I actually shut my car door on my little finger in the parking lot of a movie theater. Of course I had clicked the lock button so the door was shut and locked with my little finger in it. Fortunately I was able to fish my keys back out my purse so I could unlock the car door and remove my finger! ![]()
I was determined to go in and watch the movie because it was The Jesus Revolution and I really wanted to see it. Since my finger was bleeding and swelling when I bought my ticket, popcorn, and drink, I was given a plastic bag full of ice to put it in so I happily went into the theater and thoroughly enjoyed the movie while I iced down my throbbing finger.
The next day I had my red and purple finger x rayed and of course it was broken so I was given a splint to wear. My finger has never been the same since! But I never lost my nail.
Same thing happened to me but my key was inside
. So it was my screams that got my mom’s attention to unlock it. I hate my anti-theft system
.
interesting fact- That shape in a fingernail is called a Beau’s Line, and can be caused by an interval when the nail stopped growing. They come from various health conditions, arterial diseases, diabetes, zinc deficiency, or a bout with a high fever or childhood illness. Possibly even an injury if it’s just the one nail. You can look them up or ask a doctor to find out more, but you may have a little relic of something you survived there. Nifty!
Your tiny snake is so cute!! House snakes just slay me with cuteness. They’re so perfect, and so tiny, and so sweet.
I have Beau’s lines on a lot of my toenails. I have a thing called EOE and a lot of others with it have them too. EOE is a pretty new autoimmune disorder so I don’t think it has ever been looked into. Very interesting though. Never even realized it had a name
Oh this is SO cool to know, I’ve always wondered. Thank you! I suspect it’s due to the years and years of really bad hand eczema I’ve been through – had a couple of infections on that thumb near the nailbed that got nasty. I’ve got a little teeny wobble on a few other fingers, barely noticable, probably for the same reason. It’s cool as heck to know the mechanism, and wild that a fairly short interruption can lead to a lifelong wobble in the growth like that. Bodies are weird.
And you are so right, house snakes are the epitome of charming!
Oh hey! I know of EOE. The medication I’ve been trying for my autoimmune stuff is the same as gets used for bad cases of EOE. Best of luck managing it – autoimmune stuff is no joke and no fun.
Is it dupixent? That is what I just started a bit over 6 months ago and it is much better than taking steroids every single day ![]()
IT IS!! ding ding ding ding!!
I’ve had mixed results on it for atopic dermatitis (my hands are pristine but the frickin’ dupixent can apparently cause facial dermatitis in some lucky people, and I won that bad bad lottery) so I may be moving to a different biologic next year, but it really has been night-and-day life changing overall. Having use of my hands for the first time in years is basically what’s permitted me to be involved in reptile keeping, rather than it just being my wife’s thing.
I’m glad it’s helped you too! From what I understand it’s pretty revolutionary for EOE!
