Autoimmunue stuff is no fun. None of it, no way, no how. And the meds can kick your tail pretty effectively, too.
@caron, that story is at least a little bit crazy, girl! You’re seriously hard-core!
@lumpy , it’s a good thing your mom was around to hear! It’s bad enough as it is. I imagine those moments while waiting for rescue must have been loooooong. I lost a nail twice as a kid. Once to a goose, and once to a door. Mom slammed the door on my hand and caught my thumb. She tried to yank my hand out of the way but it didn’t quite work out. The thumb came free, but without a nail.
Oh, it got worse. Mom meant well, but. We ran into the house, my thumb pouring blood, Mom holding my hand aloft. She thought the right thing to do was to prevent infection so she poured some isopropyl/rubbing alcohol into a cup and jammed my bleeding thumb down into it. I was crying before, but you’d better believe I screamed then.
I’m sorry Caryl but you are literally making my fingers and toes hurt right now! I’d so take a bag of ice waaaaaaay before a cup full of rubbing alcohol! I’m surprised your neighbors didn’t call CPS after hearing all the screaming
Btw how did we from get cute little house snake chatter to a thumb nailripped right off the thumb and then the nailess thumb stuffed into a cup of alcohol?
I do sooooooo APPRECIATE this fantabulous forum AND THE PEOPLE IN IT because I get a big smile on my face pretty much every time I’m here with these WONDERFUL PEOPLE!
Hahaha, thank you @kabre I do like the shape of his wee head. He IS a beloved little menace.
@caryl thank you very much! It’s been a relief to get him eating regular and growing properly. It took a lot of tries and persistence.
@caron Oh he IS tiny! THat face still isn’t quite bigger than a pencil end though he’s gotten quite long. His thickest midsection is maybe 2cm diameter across. That tube in the picture is a 1 inch tube.
He’s taking fuzzies but probably couldn’t do bigger. I need to weigh him and see how much he’s grown now that he eats with enthusiasm.
I do get to hold him! He’s super sweet. The temperament of a good house snake is incredible. He’s just… chill about things, and very calm and curious.
Chester had a nice little wander around my cool stuff shelf tonight! She’s so small she glows in front of bright lights, wow. You can even see some of her organs in that first one, just a little. Heart maybe? Either way, magical!
