When you help someone so much that you get sent food…

Oh and a name for yourself
3 of the Tangerines today…
I mean ok…
So we have the one with the forever growing spots…
It’s sibling ‘Cupcake’ (Emily’s)…
And the lone baby that’s so small and cute
I love the patterning on this one…Ooooh I found this when they were 2 weeks old… before and after…
Forever growing spots haha
Yeah, I’m hoping he has the hidden gene
Love the spots, Emily chose well
So much food
I like the look of the Grubs n fruit. I might have to buy that next
I was cleaning out my old tank and I found eggs! There were 2 empty shells (one hatched and one had plant roots through it, maybe after it hatched) but I found 6 good eggs.
What do you mean by a “lav lav”? High expression?
Do you have photos of your boy fired up & down?
As in one that still looks lavender even when it’s fired up
@ghoulishcresties has a few examples of what I mean
I haven’t got a recent fired down pick of my guy but I can send the pics from when he was younger.
His a soft scale also so will be interesting to see his offspring (in the future)
Fired down when younger
Fired up - recent

I personally don’t think lav going by them.
Even Lmrs darker lavs aren’t that dark unless reds then some are quite dark.
Is he ‘black’ or a very dark brown fired?
The spots are huge! Exciting to see them grow and change
Looks greenish to me, and that would brown-based, I think.
Beautiful male, I love his colour when fired down
Black base also fire down greenish, a lot of tricolours do and they’re usually black based
Kinda hoping some join
His structure is beautiful!
I see what you mean! Thank you for the photos, I’m only a few months into hypos so it’s great to see a reference.
I’d lean that your baby is yellow & brown, the combo has caused that greenish cast. He looked very lav as a baby so it’s an interesting one!
Although actually, yellow & black would make sense as they can be green looking and soft scale would increase the saturation
maybe it’s the soft scale messing with you!
Rainbow Drop fires up black like his dad, but his mum is lav. He just has this grey glow to him when his fired up. I did think it was the soft scale trait, but my female soft scale, Kona, doesn’t have the same glow and she has a black base also!
I plan to pair them as soon as he reaches size as Kona is a big girl.
I’m hoping that he carries the lav gene as a hidden trait
he got his name because he was many colours when he was young lol
If I can get a lav female then I will breed her to Rainbow Drop
Sounds fantastic.
I’m dying for some soft scales so I’ll be at your door when you do
Oh, I thought black-based fired down blue-ish. According to Foundation Genetics at least (not saying they are 100% correct about everything).
I find it difficult to tell black and brown apart otherwise.
Yeah we have some black here who go the greenish.
Blacks fire down all sorts of colours, I myself have ones that fire down, green, grey or the lav colour, and one actually went a teal colour who went to a new owner last year.
It’s interesting to see all the different colours they fire down, some here I like better when fired down
I have lots of dark Cresties and they all fire down differently, it’s amazing!
@ggexotics I will be pairing Kona my soft scale to Milkyway my Lilly White this year so I may have some sort scales available later this year, if I can part with any
If….

I’m a pain and don’t label mine as a lot don’t work with in uk anyway and as Lmr said with yours being a lower expressioned and proving him out, you’d probably have to keep any back and prove out them out too before selling… So that’s years work, But since something you’re working with long term you would be very focused on it and may even be your main project? Assuming that is, I know you like a lot like I do
You may change your mind down the line haha x
I do eventually want a pair of super softs from AC I will say. But they’d be paired together only…
I’m hoping with Kona being a soft scale, it might bring out the soft scales more as well as some super soft scales. I’m hoping that this will be my main project & I really want lavender in the mix plus I’m interested to see the affect it has on reds but I may get fed up with trying to decide which is and isn’t a soft scale lol
Kona & Rainbow Drops grandparents are AC
