What New Invertebrates Have You Bought Recently?

Those are so cool! How big do they get?

Along with scorpions and tailless whip scorpions, millipedes are some of the non-spider inverts I’m most interested in keeping. Still researching and trying to decide on which species to go with. They all seem quite easy to care for. Do you have a favourite among the millipedes you keep?

They’ll get to be about 3" in length, they’re close to full grown now. I also keep bumblebee and ivory millipedes. I like the size of the ivory millipedes because you can easily handle them and they’ll just climb around and explore.

Interesting. I rehoused mine today and I used reptile soil, eco earth and a large piece of cork bark. and a top layer of cypress mulch. My guy is on the top next to the cork bark. I gave him a super worm last night.

Maybe yours is molting?

I have seen millipedes at my local pet store. I need to check out the ivory millipede’s because I have read the giant millipedes are bitey and difficult to handle……

I had been thinking about getting a giant…….

I think he was just stressed from being in the critter keeper too long. Its been a hard week here. I’m leaving for Syracuse, NY in the morning for a week. So I was getting things all squared away before I left.

Probably right. Mine was in a tiny critter keeper and I think it was in there for a while.

I bought an Orange Baboon T last Saturday and I have a Trinidad Chevron T and a Venezuelan Sun Tiger T coming this Friday.

The OBT is crazy fast and will bolt every time if given a chance! I’m excited about the two coming this Friday!

You have my respect for going for the OBT, which is absolutely beautiful, but has quite the reputation in the hobby. :joy:

I love the sun tigers, that’s a really beautiful species that’s on my list.

I think I’ve decided on my next Ts. I definitely want Pseudhapalopus sp. blue, which is a precious little dwarf species with a blue/violet butt. They’re apparently quite calm, docile, and curious, which seems perfect to me.

I also want either C. versicolor or A. purpurea. The deciding factor will probably be whichever species I can get at the size I want (I don’t want a sling that’s TOO tiny, but I still want to enjoy watching the colour changes both those species go through).

After I get those guys and have a few more rehousings under my belt, then I think I’ll feel ready to take the plunge into some old world species. Which is exciting, because there are a lot of old world species I really love and reallyreally want.

Sounds like you have a great plan! The OBT is most definitely a bolter! As I was putting it in its enclosure it literally teleported and I had to frantically catch it. Then when I was feeding it, same thing. This one I am definitely going to have to watch out for……but it is going to be a beauty!

Am I crazy? Certifiably I am! Lol! :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Tom Moran on Facebook has several really good videos on beginner old world tarantulas. I have a list of like 15! He also has a really good one on dwarf tarantulas. I have a few of those on my list. But Ive recently become interested in true curtain web spiders. My list gets longer and longer!!

Tell me about it! I am hooked on arachnids now! My scorpion took a super worm from tongs yesterday…….

Well, we didn’t buy this guy/gal but he/she has taken up residence in one of our corn snake’s terrariums. Anyone have a guess on what species of jumping spider this is? We are in the piedmont region of NC, near Charlotte, if that helps at all.

Sorry the pictures aren’t better. Every time it sees my phone come near it teleports to a new leaf farther away.

I think I answered my own question. A quick google search and it looks like its a tan jumping spider.

Well it was supposed to be 1.75 inches in size but it’s a lot bigger than that! I think it has to be a juvenile and not a baby! Lol!

Thank you @jawramik! :heart::+1::blush:
