I’m too small to confidently own BCC/BCI, but your posts were one of the reasons I started looking for a boa I could own. Thank you!
The grey/silver colorations with the red is what’s getting me. That animal is absolutely gorgeous… wow. Not helping my wallet, but helping my future argument for why I need one!
I am only 5’ 8” 165 lbs to give you perspective that I am not large by any means…
Congratulations on your beautiful new boa! I didn’t realize they were on the small side! Especially the males! Boas are so wonderful! Can’t wait to see what new new name you decide for her! And possible boa babies are so exciting!
Babies are smaller than I expected, too. Saw some listing with a pic of them next to a penny for size comparison, and wow… tiny!
Also, seems they’re lizard eaters in the wild? I saw some babies being sold as eating brown anoles, do captive bred babies readily go on mice, or do lizards need to be supplemented?
I have a king bed and that idea had occurred to me. Sweater boxes slide nicely under my bed but they are not very tall and also open from the top. But they’re super cheap (25.00 or so at Lowe’s)
Just a thought…….
Yes they are pretty small. You are correct they are primarily lizard eaters. The breeder I got this lady from has been breeding Solomon Island, Viper Boa and a couple other species for a few years. Switching them on to rodents is the goal, and for some babies it’s easy but others can take weeks/months. I do think for anyone looking for this species it is well worth it to purchase from a breeder who has put in the hard work of getting them switched and established.
Oh my goodness, she is stunning! I love these guys, their awesome heads and their beautiful colours are pretty hard to beat. Congrats on the gorgeous new addition.
A good thought
If she happens to be Gravid, please do keep us in the loop… maybe I’ll have to try to take one from you lol
Maybe that would be one of the boas over here due to the giveaway
Got any names yet?
I’m horribly bad with names, so if anyone has any ideas I’d love to hear them.
The snow yeti from the old Ruodolph stop motion movie was named Bumble! That’s a cute name for a cute little noodle in my opinion
I really like that name! I’m leaning towards naming him that.
Ohhhh my gosh, he is too precious for words!
I’m terrible with names too, so I can’t be much help there. I’d probably name him something like Henry or Theodore, because I seem to have this weird compulsion to (usually) give my animals dignified, old-fashioned human names.
It’s going to be a challenge to leave him for a week without handing him, lol.
I’m thinking we REALLY need a hognose in our collection.
But just one.
No. Really.
He is so adorable! What a wonderful addition!
