Many of the Australian species were smuggled and made it to the pet trade where people bred them.
Many of their species are protected by the government there even “pest” species have laws on how you may dispatch them.

I’m a man of simpler pleasures - C. guttata !
Mine is definitely the Eastern Indigo.
Mine was Black African House Snake, which I now have!
and a pure-white male Black Eyed Lucy Ball Python, which I thought I was never gonna find
but he’s coming home next week!!
Sounds like you need another holy grail animal.
Mine is definitely an eastern indigo. Would love to get one one day. They’re just absolutely stunning
Space primarily, money is a secondary factor. Im in the us, and there are local breeders. Im just the type to want to have an enclosure set up and temps and humidity dialed in before i bring home a new species.
Mine is the Boelens python, I can count on one hand the amount I’ve seen for sale and I in no way have the space to properly accommodate one at this point, but it’s def something I’d like to work towards!
Which was exactly what I said:
That makes sense. I’m the same way. I won’t be getting a blue tongue until the late fall but I,m already buying the enclosure and decorating it.
Really any naultinus or brachylopus, sadly they are not really in the US. if i had to pick a single species it would be either a perentie or desert monitor, sadly once again not really in the states
An Indian Python- dear lord if I ever find one I’ll probably die of excitement lol
Bolivian Silverback Boa-again, currently broke recent college grad, so this is way outside the realm of possibility right now
Super Fire Boa- if I win the lottery I can think about it lol. Until then it’s a dream
Green Bush Rat- I’ve seen one for sale maybe twice and they always sell before I can snag one
Scarlet Kingsnake- apparently I’m a glutton for punishment and these little guys again always sell before I can get my mitts on one.
Red/red and black male viper boa- NERD had the best one I’ve ever seen right after I got my female and I’ll forever be kicking myself for not getting him when I had the chance
A king snake that bites… I have 4, 7 in the incubator and so far no bites, one reason i love kings is they are i sees it, i bites it, nom nom. Nope none of mine… lol. But in seriousness i am quite happy with what i have. But i would love to have a California Mountain Kjng Snake
King cobra or komodo dragon. Once I get a bigger living space and dedicated reptile space, a king will definitely follow once I can get some supervised hands on experience with them. I have expierience with smaller venomous snakes but kings are a whole other beast.
Eastern Indigo, or a King Cobra. Two sides of the same coin a bit I guess.
Ah but one will poo on you… and one can kill you. Which is how I know neither are for me, but live your dreams! (safely!)
To hatch a set of ball python twins, because I think that would be cool as hell. Otherwise… I’m not sure? Maybe a longicauda, or an IMG boa.
This thread got me thinking about my grail reptile again. I live in Florida so it’s really hard to get a Eastern Indigo here. But not so hard to get a Mexican or Texas Indigo. So that’s what I did. Got in contact with a breeder on here today and I’ll be getting this young fella this week. YOLO
Congratulations! That is awesome to hear!
I really one day want a tegu, probably an ABW.
I just love how dog-like and intelligent they are, and honestly I feel like having one and making them a healthy balanced diet would help me with mine, Ha!
I’m not sure if a tegu is a valid dream, especially with their invasive status in Florida and the US trying to crack down on that (I live in Ohio), but a girl can hope.
