I saw one very severe one a few months ago with my own two eyes at an expo in Germany my God, the animal was corkscrewing like in the video’s on youtube. I almost couldn’t believe my eyes. But that said, it is an exception of the rule and we all know that expo’s are very stressful so I don’t know how the animal is in his own enclosure when he feels doesn’t feel stressed.
Just like you said everyone is entitled to have his own opinion but I always get angry when people form an opinion without really researching wether your opinion is correct or not. Without even knowing what they are talking about. There is so much nonsence in the world because of people who talk a lot without even knowing anything.
That said, I did worry about the spider morph, and champagnes, and hidden gene womas and…ect so I figured out that I wanted to see with my own two eyes. The guy I bought my het red from has about seven spiders so I held them all like I hold my own snakes without spider and indeed I saw them moving fine, they only kept their head slightly tilted like they have a little balans problem, but in general they didn’t show any sign off stress and always got done what they wanted to, so I changed my opinion. Finally I even bought a champagne, and yes I see some difference in movement. It is like she just needs a little more time to adjust her balance but I don’t see any problem in that because the difference is just very small if you compare it to the other ones. It is more like one man can see perfect and another needs some glasses to see but still can do what he wants without to much hustle. But there are serious ones out there, like there are also blind people out there.
With dogbreeds I 'm not so lenient and I do judge people for knowingly getting dog breeds with serious problems. We are here not talking anymore about minimum problem. To get a dog that needs several surgeries so he can simply breath or a dog of which you know that by the time he is 5 will suffer from loads of pain because of hip problems, or you know he is going to get loads of cancer tumors ect to me is insane. And I think it is totally hypocritical to claim that they then claim they love their dogs and it’s their best friend. Then a little spider wobble is only peanuts. It’s like willingly breeding your desert female and knowing 100% she can not get the egg’s out, or start breeding super cinnamons because you love some nice kinking and this is your new idea of beauty. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t judge people who go for super cinny’s, hell…I might even try to get 8 balls one time…but will do everything I can prevent it and keep myself posted on the things breeders do to prevent it. It’s not going to be that kinking is my goal like deformities are a goals in several dog breeds.
Yes I have two dogs of 11 and 13 years of mixed breeds. Both are seniors and never saw the doctor for anything else than the annual check up’s. I can only guess what is in him, the other is the child of his sister with an iceland dog, she is the result of an “accident” during walking her mother. Grown up with dogs, always unknown mixed and if I ever get a new one I will not buy a breed. But I might get a spider and already got a champagne ball python.
@annakirby, don’t worry to much yet. The rubbing might get better and the champagne went through a lot of stress. You have a very good chance this snake will get al lot better when she get’s more used to her new environment . Mine had your Margo’s attitude, and took more than normal time to adjust, but now she is already getting a lot better. Hope for you they all turn out fine.
